Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Actually Panzer Dragoon Orta works just fine on the 360.

A few of those games now work on the Xbox 360 with the new patches.

Psychonauts, Panzer Dragoon, Kingdom Under Fire, etc etc

If you're unsure go here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwar ... eslist.htm

Still, the OG Xbox is worth it for the fact you can run emulators off of it and install a new HD. My Xbox is a beast now. A few other games I'd recommend that I think are not in that article:

Spider-Man 2 (the Grand Theft Auto of superhero games)
Cold Fear (like Resident Evil 4... but not)
Brute Force (4 player co-op)
Ninja Gaiden (If you haven't checked it out already)
Spikeout: Battle Street (Cool beatemup)

Some of these are 360 compatible, some are not (Cold Fear, Spikeout).

Emulators run fine, including the N64 and PS1 emulator. The best though are the SNES, Mame, and CPS1 CPS2 emulators. I'd definitely recommend changing the hard drive though. If you do, it's one of the best gaming investments you'll ever make. I guarantee it.

If you have any questions about modding, soft-modding, case modding, games, hacking, installing a HD, emulators, hardware or whatever, you can PM me. I have a lot of experience with it and I could direct you to the proper resources to get you set up.

Steel Battalion is a must-have for the original Xbox which won't be compatible with the 360.

I have also been considering picking one up for emulation purposes. I totally ingnored the Xbox while it was current. Is there a good site with info on modding and getting emulators running on them?

I'm a super Xbox noob. How do you even get emulators onto one? Do you just burn a disc on your comp and put it in the Xbox?

I can't say enough about the original xbox. Being able to use it as a media/game center is awesome.

I found the SNES/NES/CoinOps(mame) emulators to work pretty well. The N64 emulator seems buggy to me. I think running the newer version on a faster PC is the way to go.

xbox-scene.com is the place to get info but it can be confusing. The easiest way is to soft-mod it by borrowing someone's softmod kit. This person has a rental for $8. http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... box+rental

Personally, I hard-modded mine. I put a chip onto the board which wasn't too bad except for the d0 solder point. Once the chip was installed, I made an Evolution X boot disc and booted with it. This gave me an FTP server where I was able to copy the contents of my hard drive out. Then I swapped the hard drive for a larger one and ftp the contents back.

From there on, I installed the XBMC (xbox media center) dashboard and loaded it up with emulators/roms, movies, photos, and some games. You can find emulator/roms torrents from various places such as bitgamer.com.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I'll do some reading on this stuff as I think this will be something I'll get around to soon.
