Action replay card update. Is this possible?

Post by Haros »

Hey there,

I guess I am posting in the right forum section. So here's my question.
Can the Sega Saturn Action Replay cardridge be updated with the latest firmware version? I guess with some way that it can. It has on the top a parallel connection.

Does enyone know anything?

Thanks.

I asked around and learned that a serial cable which was shipped with some action replay cardridges for connection with pc exists. It is compatible though with 286, 386 and 486 machines.
But I don't know what it is possible to do with it.

I updated mine from a CD-R years ago, to the final firmware. It just added some more cheat codes. SegaXTreme forums showed me how.

Thanks Mozgus.

I've searched in the sega x treme forums. From what I read I think it is possible with rockin' B's save game manager program which can be found here. However It seems (atleast I can't) that the cue file inside the downloaded allstar archive has some problem. I can't burn it with alcohol 120% or nero...

Can anyone else burn it?

Thank you very much Mozgus.

I updated my AR with Rockin B's tool. I contacted him and he sended a fixed cue.
Your file however can be useful too to anyone who is searching for an update for the EMS AR 4 in 1 cartridge.

Then it's a knock-off.

I'd be a little careful with it as the knock-offs are knowh to fry systems.

I think that it is original EMS. They have removed the serial port on their latest releases. Possibly they just used the old boxes though. If you check their site they display a cartridge with no serial connection http://www.hkems.com/product/saturn/ss-4MP.htm
