I would recommend the Metal Slug Anthology on PS2, Wii. It has all the Metal Slug games on it... unless you have lots of extra cash then go for AES or MVS unit and rock it old school on the Neo-Geo hardware...

The MS Anthology on PS2 is a great buy. Yeah there's some loading, but unless you're a purist it's the way to go.

I have Metal Slug Anthology on the PS2 as well. Great compilation, love the unlockable artwork. The loading times aren't that bad, IMO. The only thing (that I'm aware of) you'll miss out on is the Combat School, which I myself have never really cared about anyway.

I agree, the PS2 version is great! Much better control than the Wii version

I wouldn't get it. The whole "cards" thing is bullocks, the game gives you a health bar instead of lives (ironically, making the game more difficult), you get two new characters (Tyra and Walter) instead of Marco, Tarma, Eri, and Fio, gameplay just seems kind of, ...off to me.

I'd just get a DS with Metal Slug 7 instead.

PS2 is not an option for me, I am actually scared to buy that console, there is only so much time in my life.

I thought there was a version on psx.

I wanted to play it on the Wii cause I got on but a lot of you are saying it sux on the wii?

You can pick up Metal Slug X for PS1 for around $10 used. It's not a terrible port, but there is a slight animation delay when using the knife. It can affect gameplay, but you can learn to work around it.
