Choosing the right Saturn to buy (to make the modchip work)

Post by Goongrave »

Hi! this is my first post!

I've been reading racket boy for at least a year and I've never needed to post on this forum because the tutorials covered up everything I could've asked for.

Now I've decided to adventure myself on the foreigner seas of ebay to buy a moddable saturn!

I know there are various type of saturn (acqtually a lot if I refer to what Wikipedia says...). I also read that modding the saturn can be harder depending on the model you have.

The easier model to buy should be the number2 (if I'm correct). I live in Italy so I have access (at competitive prices) mostly to PAL saturns!

Some1 can help me (or can link me a tutorial) to recognize the right saturn? (u know by the time I will buy it on ebay it's even harder because I have to ask the seller to do the task himself!).

Thank you very much 4 your help!

Seems like you already know the drill, get a round buttoned model 2 and pray its not a 64-pin when you open it

So there is really no way to understand if it's the model I want unless I actually open it?

Hmm shit...T_T (this sux...really).

Anyway about that 64 pin thing...where should I search for this 64 pin in case I'm so lucky to be able to rape the saturn case?

P.S.: In these days i've been surfing a lot, searching for retrò gaming related things and I'm sure i've come accross a site (with a e-shop I think) that listed all the saturn versions and how to mod chip them (how was difficult and % of success).
Anyway I've lost it ATM. I don't know maybe it's a link from racket boy itself. Anyway i'll be searching...(if u know that site name please post!...it will be of great help!)

hmm

Does anyone knows if there are good chances to find the 32pin model over the 64 pin?

What I mean is: its the 32pin model2 saturn RARE or it is common?

THz!

If you are buying off e-bay - perhaps you could try asking the seller to open up the Saturn and look?

It is very easy - only four screws. Mabey offer an extra $5 or so for the trouble if it is a 32-pin and you buy it.

Yeah I know but I don't seem to be able to find anyone who wants to do it (I've offered up to 20 euros LOL) but they are too much afraid...
