RPG Endings?

Post by SpaceBooger »

I don't know where to start... Ok, well I'm currently playing Skies Of Arcadia, Shining Force II, Secret of Manna, Paper Mario, Super Mario RPG, and Final Fantasy 4 DS... I have not beat any of them... I wonder if I will ever see the endings. I play one game for a week or two nonstop and then someone on this board or elsewhere talks about another one so I start that one. Rinse and Repeat.
I think I am going to focus and try to finish SofA and SF2 right now.
Anyone else playing multiple RPGs and in a similar situation?

I'm knee deep in several myself right now...

Phantasy Star IV, Eternal Sonata, Dragon Quest VII, Granstream Saga, Legend of Dragoon, Fallout 3 and The Knightmare of Druaga.

I keep bouncing back and forth between them depending on mood. It feels overwhelming at times, but hopefully I'll be able to see these all through to the end.

I used to do this all the time be playing like 4 or 5 different rpgs and then never finish any of them. So now I only play one RPG at a time and whenever I need a break from it I pick up a shmup or a fighter or a fps, something that doesn't require the same dedication/amount of gameplay hours. RPGs always draw me in for the first 15-20 hours and then I tend to hit a lull but this way when I take a break I'm not drawn in by another RPG for long ass time. At one point i was actually writing down my gaming schedule so I could achieve optimal completion of my games, I think I was overthinking it just a tad

Thats the boat that Im in. I will be caught for the first 20 hours and play them in just a couple sittings... I need to play fighters or shumps since many times (cause the baby) I only get to play in short bursts.
Good advise... not the schedule thing, the fighter and shump thing

Yep, don't play so many at a time! These days I mostly play RPGs with my GF on the couch next to me, so that keeps me a little more focused. If that won't work for you, break up the monotony with a shooter or beat em up instead of another RPG.

Edit: I should add that switching genres doesn't always work. Right now I'm in the middle of The Red Star, Wing Commander, and Cave Story, who knows when or if I'll finish any of them. I should really keep a list.

Just remember to leave shining force 2 running after the credits have rolled. It's worth it :D

Maybe that's why I managed to finish Infinite Undiscovery recently, but can't get my other RPGs done. The game only took me about eighteen hours start to finish.

Now that I think about it, most of the ones I'm playing I'm sitting around the 10-15 hour mark in each of them. The key is to not add any more RPGs to the queue, but that's not an easy thing for me to do. :(

I have this exact same problem. I rarely finish an RPG before I start a new one. I can't remember the last time I even finished one. They all take too long. I've clocked over 50 hours in Persona 4, but I haven't touched it for like a month. I played 30-40 of Nocturne, but same problem. I don't even dare play Disgaea (even though I own part I and II) after hearing about the supreme lengths of time people have devoted to that game. Some people complain that a 20 hour game is too short, but I think that's about my ideal length.

That may be my main problem. I play 20 hours and come back to it weeks/months later and forget what to do next.
