Is it just me, or does Super Mario All Stars have..

I thought the DC interal battery was a different type. And what does the PS2 use the CR2032 for?

Saturn is retarded. Even with a battery in it the saves get erased if it gets unplugged.

^ Really? Mine doesn't have that problem.
ML2020/G1AN is a direct replacement. The battery type is ML2020. G1AN specifies the tab, the solder legs should match up perfectly on the PCB.
They can be purchased from DigiKey here: http://www.digikey.com/product-search/e ... l2020+g1an
You're right, the Dreamcast uses a rechargeable coin battery.MrPopo wrote:I thought the DC interal battery was a different type. And what does the PS2 use the CR2032 for?

I knew it was soldered on like the 3DO battery, but I remember doing a Google search a while back to figure out how to replace the battery on my Dreamcast. One of the guides I found mentioned that it wasn't a CR2032, but a more exotic battery. So the guide involved using a couple of other batteries to match the voltage and current. I don't have the link anymore, though.Ziggy587 wrote:Well until you expressed some doubt, I was 100% sure the Dreamcast used a CR2032. It's soldered in like SNES games, not just held in like the Saturn, so it's not considered "user serviceable" and maybe that's what you're thinking of.MrPopo wrote:I thought the DC interal battery was a different type. I have seen guides that tell you how to use different batteries, but the only reason being is so that they are easier to change. I just did a quick Google and came up with the Dreamcast using a rechargeable 2032 battery (no CR, or any other prefix). Rechargeable, huh, go figure. I hate relying on info from forums, so I'll pop open my Dreamcast tomorrow and find out for sure.

It's actually a rechargeable Li-On CR2032 style battery (Same as some Model 1 and later Model 2 SEGA CD systems) that is recharged as you play. It takes about two hours to fully charge and after that it should hold your DC's internal settings and memory for approximately two months of the console being shut off or unplugged. Of course the older systems such as the SEGA CD consume less power, and therefore drain the battery more slowly.MrPopo wrote:I knew it was soldered on like the 3DO battery, but I remember doing a Google search a while back to figure out how to replace the battery on my Dreamcast. Anyone who's ever replaced a Dreamcast battery without even checking to see what the battery itself says on top (near the type and voltage etc...) is in for a surprise when their batteries burst and destroy their motherboards because the DC's trying to charge regular a regular battery.

That's what it was. The rechargable thing is what keeps you from using the standard CR2032.
