Day one is almost over and hasn't all that bad as I'm magically getting consistently good/decent reception on the few channels still available.

We still have until 2011 here in JApan, so I can still enjoy my PC Engine GT TV tuner and all its hunky glory!

You guy's over there are lucky with all your portable analog tuners, and 1Seg adapters/tuners for DS and PSP.

Have you ever watched Japanese TV shows? After an hour, you'll be throwing your TV tuner into a swimming pool.

Hmm....Anime, Insane Game Shows, Crazy Sitcom and Drama plots that destroy your perception of reality, all in a language I can't understand.

Sounds pretty cool to me! :D

I'm a pretty big fan of Japanese culture so I feel I'd probably love it. Then again I've never actually had a chance to truly see anything other than the snippets of the culture that make their way over here via TV, the internet and other mediums, so my perception of it could change after a larger amount of exposure. For now though I'd say I'm definitely interested in at least checking out some mainstream Japanese TV when I get the chance to; have you got any recommendations?

I feel ya there. We just recently moved to a new house and when we connected our TVs (which have a built-in digital tuner, whatever you call it) and we got access to the premium channels, including HD, because our cable provider accidently forgot to encrypt the channels after the previous owners moved out. After a couple months, they were gone and we called Charter to find out what happened and they told us we had to buy boxes for each TV for access, we got like 5 TVs. We ended up getting one for the living room because my dad was hooked to Discovery and The History Channel in HD. I don't see the point paying for boxes if the TV already has the built in tuner, but cable companies need to pad their bottom lines somehow I guess....

I am going to spend the final night making love to my analog tv.

I'll run my hands up and down it slowly before turning it on. Caressing its smooth, boxy surface. I'll message its a/v inputs, while tantalizing it with dirty whispers. My hands will make their way towards the power button, rubbing around the area, until I finally turn it on with a forceful push. The static flickers as it buzzes to life, the electricity emanating from its screen jumps onto my naked body, causing my hair to stand on end. I'll flip through the channels, slowly, sweetly. Ricky Lake reruns at 3 am, ooooooooh! A fuzzy signal from the religious channel, oh god jesus! Yes! Some obscure british comedy from the 80s on pbs, oh god more! don't stop! We'll erupt in joyful bliss as we hear those five sexually infused words from a late night infomercial; "You're gonna love my nuts!"
