What is the best console for lightgun games?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

What is the best console for lightgun games?

Post by newt42 »

Topic states the question. Could you give me some lightgun game suggestions as well?
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

PS2. You got Time Crisis 1-3, Virtua Cop 1 and 2 (Japan and Europe only), Point Blank 1-3, as well as a ton of other random games. There really isn't any better console for light gun games. The Saturn and Dreamcast have a small selection, and the Xbox has House of the Dead 2 and 3, so... You know.

Yeah, the PS2 got way better support in this department. It still pisses me off that of all the games they didn't port they had to choose House of the Dead series. That'd be like if there was a console that supported the entire Final Fantasy series except for VI.

Wii has a few now: HotD 4 (although the tracking sucks a bit), and HotD 2+3 Return and Ghost Squad (which both have excellent tracking).

Still not a patch on PS2 (and the PS1 games that will play on it), thanks mostly to the huge number of Namco titles available for them. I'm hoping we see more and more lightgun games for the Wii in the future though.

Every system has a fair ammount (with some odder systems like the 3DO and Jaguar not having any) but PS2 is your best bet, you get all the PS2 and PS1 lightgun games. Thats a lot. Second I would put Sega Saturn as it has Virtua Cop 1 and 2, various other FMV lightgun games, and House of the Dead.

Don't forget that if you want to play PS1 lightgun games on the PS2 you will need a G-con 45 (the PS1 version). This is because the Guncon 2 uses a USB connector instead of the standard Playstation controller connector therefore the PS1 software will not recognise that a gun controller is plugged into the system. However the G-con 45 is forward compatible with PS2 Guncon 2 games.

I would say PS2 and Saturn had best lightgun games on console. The PS2 has the Time Crisis series which rocks...8)

Cheap, wireless, work with PS1 and PS2 games. They look kind of silly, but they work really well. Just make sure you aren't too far away from the TV.

Well, it's actually House of the Dead 5. D:

I'd say get a Wii since it has the games, plus more are probably going to be made. Plus, (from what I've played) the WiiMote is more accurate than the older guns.
