Consensus over GBA Vanias

Post by KennerBoy »

Is there a particular Castlevania that is generally looked upon as the best Vania for GBA? I have never played a Castlevania before and was looking to play one on the Gameboy Advance but I dunno if I can handle all three. What do you think?

I would definitely suggest Aria of Sorrow. The game was a total blast to play, and had an excellent storyline to boot. Circle of the Moon was okay, the control felt delayed and clunky (even for a Castlevania game). It is also probably the darkest Castlevania game to date (literally, you can't see anything), and Harmony of Dissonance was... not so good.

Aria was great but, you can't go wrong with Harmony of Dissonance either.

You preferred Circle of the Moon? What'd you like about it?

i preferred aria of sorrow but i found harmony more of a challenge. mainly, the quest on harmony took longer and required a lot more back-tracking than sorrow if memory serves.

You mean the main quest right? It took me so long to collect all of the souls in Aria of Sorrow, and it was totally not worth it.

Aria is definitely the fan favorite. I'm about 60% through it and I'm liking it a lot. I played through almost all of CotM and a lot of HoD and enjoyed them both but Aria is best. You can find people who think it's better than Symphony of the Night but I don't see how.

right. i played the ds sequel (dawn of sorrow) first and tried to collect all souls but i realised it was going to be too time-consuming so when i ran through aria i didn't even consider it.
