After being on gamefaqs & IGN, this place seems really slow

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I have a long history with forums and this is as good as it gets...

When things are too slow you actually get upset because after a day or two no one has replied , its like dead, it is not even worth posting and it is not because the people in that forum are a bunch of idiots or mean people, it is simply because there are too few people that can have time+knowledge to reply to your post.

If you have too many, then you write a post and within 1 hour you get 20 replies most of them are "thank you's" or un-useful comments. Its okay and I think better if one or 2 or 3 guys come in to make a one word joke in the topic, but to get 20 people with 1 word replies that are supposed to be some kind of a joke , you really lose the useful stuff in the topic. Not to mention within 3 days your simple question of "Where can I find game X for the genesis" into a 5 page topic with 2 replies that are useful and all the rest are in the form of "Just get a Wii" and "You know it is 2009" . Your post is also going to be on the 4th page of discussions due to high activity, which means less attention is going to be paid to it and you have to search for it sometimes. I lost my posts many times. Most that I hate are teenagers with bad attitude and knowledge less unreasonable thinking. At one point I just thought westerners are a bunch of ass holes with 0 respect. After some time I took into consideration that this is the internet, and the guy on the other side could be any one. I soon realized that 12 year olds and younger got enough brain power to log on the internet and post comments and discuss, and they will insult you and your whole ancestors just because you said Killzone's graphics are not as good as Halo 3.

I am never sure if I was like that , but I do remember sending a wrestling website: wrestlezone.com an email telling them somehow that they suck or something of that sort. I was into wrestling back then and I chose WrestleZone as the title of my website , so they were kind of the competitors and the webmaster(remember this used to be a popular identity) replied with anger as my website a lousy geocities one with pictures and animated gifs not only posted from other websites but hotlinked because 1 mb of storage or so are not enough even for pictures. My website and wrestling days are gone centuries ago, and that website is still in business, I feel like sending a sorry letter :P

Any how this is as good as it gets, you post today, the next day you get 5-7 smart intelligent replies that are useful. Rackeyboy is probably the hidden gem of the internet, and to be honest I do not use it for my retro discussions but for all of my videogames discussions and questions. I really hope this doesn't turn into an IGN like forum with 10,000 users. Boy am I glad I searched for Dreamcast game reviews on google :D

I completely agree...And almost every single article is really interesting and it's like a little holiday...The articles does not appear frequently, but maybe it's actually good - because you really appreciate each of them...

Haha -- that's the whole idea :)

And on the main topic of this thread, it's actually picked up quite a bit here in the last few months. And yes, the sites you mentioned are much larger than this one. But it's a quality over quantity here.

Individual threads won't get a lot of discussion unless they are good -- which if you think about it, is how it should be. At the same time, you can actually read each thread if you wanted to and checked in often enough -- you can't say the same thing about larger sites.

Personally, I don't get a chance to read everything -- I'll just look for ones that attract my interest.
I used to read everything before it got bigger though...

Mainly because this is a more tight knit community, and you don't have to sift through thousands are trash posts and uneducated opinions. I was a long time GameFAQs user until it merged with Gamespot. The user base tripled and it became nothing but an outlet for internet hate and gaming cynicism. I'm glad I found this forum because all that negativity was brining me down.

RB is a great place. You'll find the quality of users here far beyond what GameFAQs or IGN could ever hope to achieve.

I struggle to keep up myself, I use to come here every couple of days but now I just pop in maybe ever 2 months. The pace here is fine I think. GameFAQs and IGN of course run at a break neck speed, it's not really worth participating in the discussion, in that regard.

This is one of the few forums I have ever frequented and it is the only one I go to now simply because everyone here is extremely nice and helpful, and after a while you just kind of fit right in...its a great community with good people

I mostly stay on here, this site has the most knowledge when it comes to older stuff. It is a lot slower than other sites, but I like the smaller community. On the other sites people just fight over how their "Xbox is better than PS3" debates, its not worth your time.I get excited when the new articles come out, nothing like nostalgic articles.

I love this place, I come here for all sorts of advice on games and I love the articles. I think that the forums here are maintaining a good pace, not too fast, and not too slow. This forum also tends to be for the older croud (myself and a couple others are 17 and below. I think I'm the youngest not quite sure on that.) but, that leads to less crap and more quality. Anywhere else is pretty much a troll fest.
Older. Not wiser.

About the articles, I think what sucked me in was that they actually talk about the games. I grew bored of other websites that just talked about industry gossip and such irrelevant shit. Here, people can come, have a healthy discussion, and if you want, they will give you a list of games to play. That's how it should be.

Other than that, welcome :) its nice to see that you had the initiative to come here, it's a great place.
Yes, it is far better than gamefaqs. You can get banned there without even trying, some mods over there are just awful.
