How do you feel when opening a new gaming console box?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

How do you feel when opening a new gaming console box?

How do you feel when opening a new gaming console box?

Personally every time I buy a new console, and open it's box for the first time, and take it out
I feel what in my language we call "a child's joy"

which means an overwhelming feeling of joy, about something small which shouldn't register for much,
yet you feel so happy only a child could.

I still remember how happy I was with my first console, the mega drive 2. I loved how the box had everything
displayed at you right when you opened it.
In fact I remember that I kept putting the console back in it's box after I was done playing with it, just so I could
take it out again a few hours later. (until I lend the mega drive to some friends and they tore the box. grrrrrrrrr)

I loved the Wii's 2 drawer box, and all the stuff that came inside it, specially the wii sports game, and how small the
console really was.

Worst console opening of my life was with the gamecube. That thing was just packed for shipping, end of story. No care
taken when designing the inside of the packaging I guess.

So what has your experience been with console box opening?

While opening boxes was always awesome, I actually didn't get to do that until my 3rd console (N64). I can remeber quite strongly finding my NES in our garage though, which was a very intriguing moment. It was just me and that alien machine, and after a little while my Dad helped me hook it up, and I was astounded. My SNES was a hand me down, so I got that in a regular box with wrapping paper on it, but that was probably the best experience with opening up a new console I've ever had, because video games (known to me as Nintendo games at the time) were still new to me, and the new technology was vastly superior to the old one.

I'll admit though, I was never well informed about video games, and was always a generation behind.

When I got my Dreamcast (used) It was wrapped in some kind of clear plastic. I still got that happy, child-like, joy-filled feeling when I opened it. Opening consoles is like having orgasm. :D

My joyful feeling rushed to an abrupt stop when I realized that my Dreamcast did not come with a power chord OR a memory card...
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

Pretty much every time I open a console or game box up, I get this sinking feeling of "Well, there goes all of its value down the drain." I've got about three or so games that are sitting on my shelf right now, that are still in their seal.

I just, for some reason, can't bring myself to open them unless I know for damn sure I'm going to spent many hours playing them. I think I can blame this on past experiences, like Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube. I opened it, and played it... for two hours before becoming bored with it and putting it back on the shelf. Now, if I had just kept it sealed, I'd be able to sell it for a good chunk of change.

lol. i just open them right away to make sure the disk is inside (always afraid there could be a mistake in the assembly line and i'm left with a box and no game"

My PS2 came without the power cord, I was so unhappy when I discovered that.
