After being on gamefaqs & IGN, this place seems really slow

After being on gamefaqs & IGN, this place seems really slow

Post by BoringSupreez »

I guess I just need to get used to a slower pace. I'm posting here so much now because I got warned an hour or so ago on gamefaqs for making a joke that was taken entirely the wrong way apparently. And I just don't fell like going to IGN's The Vestibule tonight, so here I am.

The only reason the Gamefaqs and IGN forums seem so much faster is because 80% of the members there are trolls. They don't give a damn about posting quality responses and just spam hate messages over and over. Trust me, it's better here.

Oh, and by the way; the Gamefaqs admins are lazy and don't pay any attention.

Try not to post copypasta like your "killed the dog" thread. As you can see, no one really appreciated it.

Other than that, welcome :) its nice to see that you had the initiative to come here, it's a great place.

Plus, this place just has a smaller community than IGN/Gamefaqs. Gamefaqs is also interesting because it's a bunch of sub-communities. Some places, like the DX forum are great, while others are just a haven for trolls.

You want to know about a slow community? I belong to a forum of approximately 15 active members, and two threads a week is considered high activity.

that and I would imagine anywhere that focuses on modern gaming would get more attention than a place largely focused on retrogaming

My first experience with message boards was with Nintendo's old Nsider forums, that place may as well have been a chat room.
After awhile you start to appreciate the slower pace of forums like this. Quality of quantity, and if you just want to fuck around then there's chat rooms everywhere for everything. :P

I still can't keep up with the pace of this forum. I guess, however, that if the community had less traffic, it would seem dead.

Most people here, I reckon, are adults with jobs and families, or even college students with real stuff to do and limited time, which has to be shared between gaming and internet. IGN and Gamefaqs are full of trolls and teens (or do I repeat myself?) that are at home all day and do nothing. That's one reason racketboy looks so quiet.

I think there is definitely enough new stuff that keeps the forum worth checking a few times a day. Which is what I like. I like to be able to keep up with discussions without having to check on them a lot or be forced to read through like 30 pages of replies if I don't check often enough. Large communities definitely also seem to attract the attention seekers who are just out to annoy and disrupt discussion.
