You were on a PvE server, don't forget to mention that little tidbit!
Actually, I wasn't. I only played PvP, which instantly cut the populations down. I played a troll fury warrior, and one of my best buds was an undead rogue. We had a lot of fun double-teaming other players. Every now and again, we could get a skirmish going, and one time we literally started a war that lasted for a day, but for the most part...not much was happening.

I once played the 10 day free trial and it was pretty fun. I wanted to get back into but it is way to expensive, and therefore not worth it. Plus I heard that some patch made all the spellcasters use nothing but percentages when casting spells. Meaning that a spell that uses 10% of your mana is only gonna be cast ten times before you're pooped, whether you have 100 total mana or 100,000,000. Something like that is just obnoxious, and considering that the spellcasters are the only fun class in the game for me I have given up completely on WoW.

That's incorrect. All spells are a percentage of your base mana.

Um, you're gonna have to explain "base mana" to me.

Sure. At level 80 a naked character of a given class and race will have a predefined set of stats. These are the same for all characters of the same class, race, and level, and it includes mana. This is your base mana. As you add bonuses to Int you get an additional 15 mana per point of Int. So, for example, let's say that my character without any items equipped (so base stats) has 2000 mana. My Fireball spell costs 10% of my base mana, so it costs 200 mana. When I'm naked I can cast it 10 times before I have to regen mana. Now let's equip all my gear, so I have a total of +400 to int. This gives me an additional 6000 mana (at 15 per int), giving me a grand total of 8000 mana. However, the fireball still costs 200 mana, so now I can cast it 40 times before having to regen.

OH! Makes much more sense now. Thanks.
Lol, WoW is still too expensive for me though. :(

That is a horrible wretch of a game that consumed more of my time then I'm comfortable admitting. It got to the point where it wasn't even fun...I just had to keep on playing...

WoW is a great game, but its so huge that to play it right, you really need a big time investment to get any progress. There should be warning label on it saying "say good bye to your other hobbies" - lol. I played it hardcore for a long time, and I enjoyed it, but it's seriously addictive. That's why I'm going back and playing my old skool Saturn games now - I can play those for 20-40min at a time and be satisfied.

I enjoy a lot of things about WoW, especially the casual friendly objects of it (achievements, mounts, pets, solo friendliness et al), but there's all too much grinding all in all. I'd rather spend the same time on more linear games these days, so I can actually complete them and have some diversity in my gameplay. Plus shmups are a hell of a lot more fun anyway.

Besides, there's so many servers that the likelihood of everyone being on the same one is too low to count on. I'll be damned if I'm switching servers again, if my account were even active at the moment.
