Whatever. I've got nothing against this kid, and it sounds like he didn't say anything really bad about games, other than saying he would rather do something else.

I can respect that, especially since I'm sure as hell not going to be the one studying astrophysics.

You know what else is a waste of time? Martial Arts.

T'cheh! Someone didn't play Shenmue! Martial Arts is used to avoid soccer balls and beat up town drunkards. Also to be used to essentially become your nemesis in the name of avenging your father's death. Won't be long 'til this kid walks home from a hard day at the supercollider on the day that the snow turned to rain (or that day, if you prefer), and then let's see you question his devotion to the martial arts.

Also, one day I aspire to create a video game which simulates an entire world and its inhabitants' needs. It is up to the player to decide how to run each society; the game can only be won when the player creates a truly just universal society devoid of war or poverty without infringing on man's inalienable rights. If and when such a feat is accomplished (basically, the player's actions must ultimately align with a certain algorithm within the system) the player will be treated to a cinematic which involves God blowing the world into a billion pieces, screaming, "NO, NO, NO!! YOU'RE DOING IT ALL WRONG!!". The game would be so intricate and so difficult to complete that no one would be able to complete it for possibly years, but when someone finally does, they can run their statistics and the world can use it to figure out a global economy and society which achieves something relative to world peace. Now THAT would be a game which accomplishes something!

It's funny that he says "I feel it's a waste of time playing video games because it's not helping humanity in any way," when its more than likely he'll get a job from the government to create or aid in creating weapons that will, with his genius, blow up an entire country. Or he will grow up and be psychologically crushed under the pressures of his genius and resort to alcoholism until he dies from cancer or liver failure or something. MAKE him play a video game, thus preventing from creating Skynet or something worse!
