Opinions on the old Fallout games?

Post by Erik_Twice »

The first one and Tactics look cool. What do you think, is it worth getting that reprint with the three games that is being sold at retail lately?

Fallout 1 is a modern classic, a work of art, and one of the best games ever created. Fallout 2 is more of the same, though a bit more self-referential and wink-wink nudge-nudge-y (though this may not be a bad thing--I happen to like Fallout 2 more overall. Tactics is shit and should be avoided, IMO, unless you happen to really enjoy Fallout's combat system.

Excellent purchase(although you could easily just d/l the games). It's a wonderful series. Fallout 2 is the best IMO.

I'd buy the games from gog.com, personally. Those guys deserve your money.

Tactics wasn't too bad. It just strayed from Fallout 1&2
Number 1 and 2 are 2 of the greatest games I've ever played.
Number 2 especially.
The dark humor in these games and pop culture references have you smirking and sometimes even laughing out loud (Play through #2 with 1 intelligence)

I highly recommend these games to every gamer out there. If you can get past flashy graphics and enjoy a great game. You will love the series.

Brotherhood of Steel for xbox WAS horrid, just giving you a heads up on that.

Tactics just doesn't have the story or interactivity or 'heart' of Fallout 1 and 2. It's just the combat engine, basically. So if that floats your boat, feel free, but there are much, much better tactical turn-based combat games out there.

I bought that trilogy. Personally I would never buy games from gog or steam or who ever sells game DLS. Nothing against them I just want to own the actual game and not just a DL and maybe a burned disc.

I just picked up the trilogy pack on sat. Must say they are really good but very hard at times.

Just gotta do your best to not get in over your head. These aren't your new-fangled level-scaling RPG games.
