Anyone a avid Reader?
Anyone a avid Reader?
Anyone an avid reader here at Racketboy's? I'm sort of, when I want to. I just got done reading Lord of the Flies in my junior high school English class. So, what kinds of books do you read, if you read at all?
Re: Anyone a avid Reader?
We actually have this thread every five months or so. I recently finished a collection of Robert E. Howard's Conan stories, The Bloody Crown of Conan. I'm really glad they're re-releasing these things, as I've never been able to check them out before.

Also reading Pj o'rourkes driving like crazy which is excellent and various magazines. I'm overwhelmed with books to read.

I haven't picked up many new books lately, so I've spent most of my time rereading my favorite Star Wars novels. I did recently pick up Ender in Exile, though. I didn't realize it came out last year, so I need to catch up on things. Now that I think of it, most of my new reading purchases have been various mangas.

I finished reading the 5th book in Jack Campbell's Lost Fleet series not too long ago. Before that, I read the newest Dresden Files book, Turn Coat.
Right now, I'm working on the second trade of Walt Simonson's run on Thor. Great stuff, if you've never read it.

Comics, RPG's, miniatures, and now retrogaming? I guess its time to learn to go without eating...

I've been reading The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, I'm on the second and they're pretty good so far. I finished the third Dexter book by Jeff Lindsay at little while ago and it wasn't too bad but the first two are better, the show rocks my mind also.

I just finished reading The Gunslinger for the second time. I finished the series a while back (and loved it) but am returning to it for a "book club" I've somehow been roped into joining. Now that I've finished The Gunslinger I'll return to my second read-through of Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales and hopefully pick up Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle.Marspants wrote:I've been reading The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, I'm on the second and they're pretty good so far. Oh, and I also recently read some random fantasy novel (a genre I don't normally read) as part of this book club. It was called Tigana and was decent but didn't have much of an impact on me. As mentioned in the other thread about reading, I'm a huge fan of Arthur C. Clarke, Cooper, and H.G. Wells. In fact, I've got to read more of Wells. War of the Worlds is still just amazing to this day.

The last traditional book I read was the Metal Gear Solid novelization by, Raymond Benson. I've been wanting to get back into manga as of late, and have been saving up to buy all the volumes of Gun Smith Cats.

Those books are awesome dude. I bought the three hc versions from SFBC plus the Kull one. The Kull book is worth checking out if you have not yet.
