We in Europe have, SCART RGB which is the best connection possible for retro systems, the NES cannot output RGB, which is about the only exception I believe.
RGB SCART looks amazing on 50" 720P RP LCD HDTV if connected via RGB SCART.
So I would try and find a way to get from RGB SCART to some other signal your tv can accept, because RGB is the purest signal for low res retro systems 15Khz. For 128BIT and over systems go for VGA options offcourse.
Heck, I heard Sony fixed the bad conversion of video signals of PS2 games running on the PS3......

I prefer the HAIS brand VGA box. It is just as good if not better than the official Dreamcast one. There was one as a matter of fact that was on Ebay a few days ago. You might want to check to see if it still there. The HAIS ones for some reason seem to be super hard to find. Do a google search on HAIS VGA and you will see the stellar reviews on it. (respects to Racketboy since I know he sells VGA boxes, but I am a die hard HAIS fan when it comes to comparing VGA boxes.
