How about you guys what's your favourite console for fighting games.
Favourite Console?
Favourite Console?
Over the last few weeks all I seem to be playing is fighting games, I only own a Xbox, PS2 and N64 but I do favour my Xbox for fighting games, mainly because I have a SFII controler and Street Fighter III 3rd Strike
How about you guys what's your favourite console for fighting games.

Re: Favourite Console?
Impossible for me to choose.
I would say the Saturn because there are so many great fighting games for the system. Lots of series really shine. Street Fighter Alphas, Guardian-friggin'-Heroes, the early games in the VS series, the beginnings of competent SNK ports and the 4 megs o' ram. This system also has the best controller ever created for 2D or arcade style games (if you want to use a pad).
BUT... then I think about the Dreamcast. Fighting games were growing stagnant with the general public and arcades were dying in the US... but this is when many fighting series seemed to burn the brightest. KOF 99' DM, Garou: MotW, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter Alpha 3, SNK VS Capcom 1 & 2, Marvel VS Capcom 1 & 2...
...or I might say the PS2. In just the last 3 years this system has amassed nearly every fighting game collection I could hope for. And that is only in addition to what was already there. Fatal Fury Collections, lots of King of Fighters, Street Fighter Anthologies, Samurai Shodown, Soul Caliburs, Tekkens, Mortal Kombats... it goes on and on...

Re: Favourite Console?
I'd agree, it's a tough choice. I absolutely adore my fighters on the SNES, but there's just so much on the Sega Saturn, and so many good games for the DC and PS2. I couldn't really say what my favorite is.
Re: Favourite Console?
For 2d fighters: Saturn. It is only missing a few of the 2d fighters I care about but has enough variety that it is ok.
For 3d fighters: Dreamcast. Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter 3, and Powerstone 1&2. Im done.

Re: Favourite Console?
I've said this before recently, but lately I think my favorite console is Gamecube based on the addition of the GBPlayer. My reasoning is that with the console able to play the game libraries of the Gamecube, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and Gameboy Advance all combined -- you have a gigantic and fantastic library of games being rocked on one tiny cube.
Though admittedly, by that reasoning I guess if I had a Wii with VC I'd like that more in a way. But VC (like emulators) are less fun to "COLLECT" games for than actual carts/discs.

Re: Favourite Console?
my dreamcast likely sees the most use and would have to be my favorite by default, despite my large saturn and PS2 fighter collections.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Dude, OP meant to ask what's your favorite console for fighters. Not something that Game Boy iterations are known to have been strong at.noiseredux wrote:I've said this before recently, but lately I think my favorite console is Gamecube based on the addition of the GBPlayer. Re: Favourite Console?
For modern 2D fighters, PS2. For older 2D fighters, Saturn.
Both ruled their particular generation as far as volume of fighting titles goes.
