I had a positive perception of Billy Mitchell before watching The King of Kong because he was in the MTV documentary "True Life: I'm a Gamer." So I was biased towards Billy Mitchell... and I still managed to hate the guy by the end of the movie.
We are humans, so we have to take the human factor into account when judging someone. Yes, Billy Mitchell might be good, but who cares?

Re: Steve Wiebe's E3 2009 Donkey Kong Score Challenge
My real problem is that Mitchell forces Wiebe to play all his attempts live in front of a ref. but then just mails out a VHS of him beating Wiebe's record, that's what pisses me off about the concieted asshole. Not to mention the fact that Mitchell only ever came after him because one of his old rivals gave Wiebe the machine.

You guys should probably keep in mind that the documentary is also intentionally biased in favor of Wiebe. Some of the information presented is fabricated, such as Billy refusing to play or do anything with Steve while they were both at the same arcade.
Plus, I hear his hot sauce is pretty good.

I believe the score on that tape was later rejected.

I don't care. In my eyes Steve Wiebe is the true champ and the tape that Billy sent DOES look mad suspect but we gotta remember he can do that cause he's a member of Twin Galaxies also(if I remember correct) so he can send a tape and because everyone knows him they wont question it for nothing.
My biggest fear is the Wiebe does it... beats the record live... and then Mitchell sends another tape the next day. I would be tight.

Remember that Wiebe was friends with the guys who made the movie.
And please check your facts first as Overload has provided links that should clarify your points. Mitchel is not a referee since a long time ago.

My stance is that while Donkey Kong is a cool game, it doesn't matter who can get the highest score. So the fact that there's this drama makes them both douches.
