i hate the lack of free pizza coupons with games. tmnt 2 for nes came with some, and this trend needs to be revisited. also, random battles and getting trapped without escape are teh suck
You know when you have to enter your name, they give you the alphabet (good start) and they even give you a back space or delete key.. perfect. As you type your name it appears along the bottom, right? Any mistakes, you're gonna use the delete key, yes?
So WHY is it after you finish your name not only do you have to press enter... it then comes up IS THIS OK? .... you press yes, of course if you HAD of typed it wrong you would of pressed delete and corrected it ... you press OK ...... the ARE YOU SURE? Question pops up .... yes .. I think I know how to spell my own bloody name, I mastered it 20+ years ago thanks.
It then drops to a character select screen ... and you have to select your NAME again!!!
Grrr... it's just some dumb game convention of over complicating menu systems. Any game post 1994 that still uses this system goes out the window.
.... and breathe ....

They should do that with the new TMNT game.grittykitty wrote:i hate the lack of free pizza coupons with games. tmnt 2 for nes came with some, and this trend needs to be revisited. also, random battles and getting trapped without escape are teh suck
traditional rpg length
I don't like when a traditional RPG gets too long without some awesome story development.
When I was 5-10 years old I wanted all of my games to be 200 hours long, but now I like my games fast paced and beautiful. Kind of cinematic without droning on for months of play.
Panzer Dragoon Saga is about the ideal length/story arc for me. Every part of the plot seems to be necessary and the game moves along well. The whole shebang lasts 15-22 hours, that is 7 sessions of 3 hour gaming. Pretty much the maximum that I'm willing to commit to one game (except multi player games like bomberman or fighting/sports titles) at a time. Snatcher is also one of my favorites. The whole ride is only about 8 hours long but it is a ROCKING 8 hours.
A strategy game like Advance Wars or Shining Force doesn't bother me as bad because it's not story driven.

I'll agree with Bustaballs' statement, but I actually like Resident Evil. Aside from typical camera issues, very vague instructions or objectives, and various technical problems there are only three things that really bug me.
Button mashing fighting games, or fighters more inclined towards mashing buttons. I.E. DOA (But don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy DOA, it's just it still has a lot of work to be done on it if it'll ever be considered a serious fighting game imo)
ESCOURT MISSIONS! I HATE ESCOURT MISSIONS! Especially if the game has bad AI or they sic retardedly hard enemies after you and you're supposed to protect something very weak.
Finally, and this will be a very isolated case. The insane amount of locked/broken doors in the Silent Hill series. It bugs the hell out of me because said area is not useless, and they have all of these broken or locked doors that you never open. This is especially dumb in SH2 when you're in the Apartment Complex, they have all these damn doors and you can't open 90% of them.
It just seems like a massive waste of space to me...

This isn't a game design flaw, this is a friend design flaw. I hate it when friends who have no clue of what they are doing in a game automatically think they are some expert. You know when you're playing a game with someone who keeps on screwing up at the easiest point you just want to rip the controller out of their hands and do it your damn self! I get like that a lot, especially when someone is wasting the day away on one colossi on Shadow of the Colossus.
