Anyone get the Adventure Island Remake released on the Virtual Console (US today, Europe earlier,) and if so how is it?

I got it on Saturday and am playing it almost everyday (thats an amazing feat with me averaging final grades and a 10month-old crawling all over the place.)
It is well worth the $8. It reminds me of the original Adventure Island/Wonderboy except some say its easier because you have a health meter... I disagree. The health meter goes down on its own, like a timer, therefore not letting you go slow through the levels. It adds a new challenge to the game. If you like the old Hudson stuff or NES style platformers you need to check this game out.

Re: Adventure Island Remake
I have never played any adventure island games, but I am interested. What would be a good introduction to the series? I would consider buying the downloadable Wii title, but I haven't gotten anything off of Virtual Console as I like to own the games and what not, not that it would stop me from getting this game. I'd like to kind of sample it and see if it would be something I would enjoy. Recommendation?SpaceBooger wrote:It is!

I have only played some of the NES iterations, but in my opinion, Adventure Island III is the best. Well, you can't go wrong with Adventure Island II either, since Adventure Island II and Adventure Island III are quite similar.
I really loathe the first installment, which is pretty much a tour through the lands of boredom.
