My PSP managed to mess itself up a little while ago. None of the buttons on the bottom row work. Well, except the button that turns down the sound, it's permanently stuck so now I don't have sound either. I tried to open it up and attempt to fix it, but not only did I fail, I also stripped all of the screws pretty bad... Woops.
I absolutely love the PSP, and when I heard about the PSP Go! I was practically jizzing my pants. My PSP's broken, so what perfect timing, right? Then I heard the price, and the fact that it isn't really an upgrade in any way. Long story short, I need a new PSP, but last I checked all of the new PSP's screens are messed up. Something to do with scanlines? Anyone know if they got around to fixing the screen, or is it really that bad?
Did they ever fix the PSP-3000's screen?

My buddies PSP 3000 still has the issues even after some updates I guess. I swear by my 2000.LCDSCREEN wrote:My PSP managed to mess itself up a little while ago. Well, the PSP Go looked good, until I found out that there's no UMD! How the HELL am I supposed to use my current library with the damn thing without a fuckin UMD drive?
I am NOT shelling out extra cash for games that I already have. So if I were to get one, I'd then have to keep my old PSP-1000 model.
But in lieu of this new flawed model, I'll just say fuck it and get the PSP-3000. At least that still supports my UMD games.

As far as I've heard they haven't fixed the PSP-3000 screen and I honestly doubt they will..
The PSP-Go! looks cool but I think I will stick with my current PSP-2000 slim.. The price point is a major deal break and no UMD drive basically axes my PSP collection... I would like to own a PSP-Go! just to have but so far I'm not that excited just like with DS-i...

Same here. Glad they are supporting both it least still and not completely screwing us.REPO Man wrote:Well, the PSP Go looked good, until I found out that there's no UMD! How the HELL am I supposed to use my current library with the damn thing without a fuckin UMD drive?

No amount of updates all fix the PSP 3k screen simply because it is interlaced instead of progressive to cut costs. If u want a replacement I still think that the psp1k is the definitive version of the psp, it feels better to hold, it's easier to hack, and the umd drive is actually a mechanical drive instead of just a flap.

the 1st gen is just SO HEAVY compared to the 3 (im pretty sure it was the 3, i just held it for a lil while), it's like 3-5x heavier.

I also rent and sell PS2, Wii and XBOX softmod-kits and I collect DVD movies let me know what you have.
Re: Did they ever fix the PSP-3000's screen?
Yes, the 2000 is 33% lighter than the 1000 series (3000 is slightly lighter still), and I find that after a while my hands get tired from holding the 1000.vlame wrote:the 1st gen is just SO HEAVY compared to the 3 (im pretty sure it was the 3, i just held it for a lil while), it's like 3-5x heavier.
That being said, if you want to get one with a UMD drive, are not concerned with hacking, and want a lighter system, go with the 2000. The screen is much better than the 3000.

Re: Did they ever fix the PSP-3000's screen?
I actually like the extra weight. I hated the Sixaxis because it just felt so cheap and light. It felt the same way with the PSP 2k and the 3K. They just felt cheap and flimsy. I don't really know why, or why I find the added weight more appealing, I just do.vlame wrote:the 1st gen is just SO HEAVY compared to the 3 (im pretty sure it was the 3, i just held it for a lil while), it's like 3-5x heavier.
