I thought PS2 games that were CDs (and not DVDs) were blue bottomed. My copy of Time Splitters 1 is blue.

Besides, if they were copies then they wouldn't play on your system (unless you're chipped).

Yes I believe they are CD format instead of DVD and as someone else stated there were more of them near the system's launch most likely because developers had not yet learned enough about the Playstation 2 format to utilize all of the power of the system with an end result that did not require all the space a DVD can hold.

The blue discs are CDs and were used at the beginning of the PS2 to cut costs on games that simply didn't require all the space DVD could offer. You have to remember back when the PS2 first launched DVDs were still expensive to produce.

The fact that your PS2 makes a horrible noise with blue discs means that the laser is about to die.

My ps2 has always been louder with cd's than dvd's (Thanks to the faster spin speed). And that system has worked flawlessly for 7 yrs now.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.
