Do you all remember Dragon's Lair?

Not as cool this time.

The video just looked ridiculous. Real world 3d scanning? Seriously? The only thing being shown in the part of the video with the skateboard, is an instance where you could stick something in front of a camera, align it with a stencil, and then take a pic. Then whatever was within it is mapped to an in game object. I don't see how it is capable of scanning something perfectly like that. I just feel like it wasn't presented truthfully and gives false excitement.
No doubt. I am not putting much stock in the marketing video they showed. At all. If it were just that, eh, I'd be real skeptical. With the live demos they showed, I think the system looked pretty good. I upgraded my excitement to merely 'skeptical' instead of 'really skeptical.'

Again, the thing I like most is there's no pretense of replacing traditional controllers. NO ONE believes you can get deep gameplay out of gestures. It's pure casual, and that's all. I do like the idea of using gestures for the UI. Not sure it'll be THAT useful, but man it will be cool to mess with and show off.

I also feel that unless it is capable of recognizing minute movements such as pinching your fingers, there is only so much you can do with your body that can be transferred into a game that I would play. Being able to use both the camera and a controller would be awesome though. Like the wii head tracking.

Looks like eyetoy all over again, when it came out seemed just as revolutionary as natal.
