I suppose this question mainly goes out to Racketboy. What all do I need to do to start a little internet business that sells software? How much would I have to make before I have to do all of the tax crap and where would I get information on how to do that?
I welcome all help.

IRS.gov would be your main resource.
I can't remember the dollar amount that determines if you have to pay taxes, but my guess would be somewhere around $1000 or something (I could be wrong).
Just do your best to keep track of everything you spend that is an expense for your business from office supplies, computer equipment, etc.
If you can afford it, it is well worth it to hire somebody to do your taxes at least the first year. They can tell you a lot of the rights and wrongs of what to deduct and such.
As for other things to get started, definitely invest in a domain name. I regret not doing it earlier.
Find the cheapest hosting plan from a respected host that can grow with your needs. I recommend Godaddy or Dreamhost.

Yes! If you see a domain you like and no one owns it - BUY IT NOW!!! Otherwise one of those evil advertising page stealers might get it.As for other things to get started, definitely invest in a domain name. I regret not doing it earlier.

I myself use 1&1 and have for three years without any problems. I have the buisness hosting package which is like $15 or so a month (I think the cheapest plan is only like $5 per month). 3 domain names come free with it. Any additional domain names cost only $5.99 per year. Right now I own 8 different domain names but only have about 3 active sites.
