So I'm running through the third level in Mark of Kri, stealth killing and picking off tribal guards with my bow, when I get to a point where I'm gonna have to run down and drop three guys. I charge into battle, proceed to smash their armor to bits and knock one to the ground. Right as I go for the impale, the whole thing locks up, and my controller vibrates like crazy.
I absolutely hate it when this happens, but what's more annoying is that I hadn't saved at any point in the level, so I've got to do the whole thing all over again. I only had one thing left to finish the challenge for that level too. Bloody hell.
Don't you hate it when your games freeze?
Re: Don't you hate it when your games freeze?
I've had worse happen to me.
A few years ago, the power went out while I was saving a game. Not only did it not save, I also had to start the WHOLE game over because the file got corrupted. I forgot what game it was exactly. The whole event was traumatizing.

Yeah, I once played Star Ocean 2 and was outside the area to the last part of the game when someone else saved over my file...
Also, my games freeze all the time. I think my PS2 is dying.

Re: Don't you hate it when your games freeze?
My copy of Unreal Tournament III just froze today. I was playing an incredibly tough mission in the campaign, and decided to cut my losses and just start the mission over and it froze on loading.
Pissed me off even more than I already was, which I was surprised was even possible considering how pissed I was at my teammates for not being able to defend just one freakin' point I told them to defend. Gah.
I've also had a friend of mine save new game data over my Jet Grind Radio 100% completion save data before, but I was surprisingly not pissed at that he did that - I was pissed that he instead tried to play it off as my memory card "crapping up". Uh, if the memory card craps up, it doesn't replace my save file with another save file with less than an hour playtime on it. I was actually more than willing to play through Jet Grind Radio all over again.

Happened to me in Metroid Prime. Sucked too I had to replay like 2 hours of the game. Thank god for the auto save feature.

A lot of times Castlevania freezes on me, on the LAST level! I get up to the last screen before the staircase up to Dracula, and I guess because there's a crazy amount of sprites on the screen and I'm throwing holy water like crazy it's too much for the NES to handle so it just freezes up.
I also found out that if you try to walk through a door while invincible the game freezes (in fact, I submitted that tip on Gamewinners.com). The game doesn't have any invincibility potions any where near a door, but every once in a while it will randomly drop from an enemy by a door.
Haha, and I remember the first time my friend and I ventured to beat Castlevania twice in a row (second time is the 'harder' version). I went first and beat it, then we reset the console and he played. He got all the way up to Dracula for the second time and in the middle of the fight the game just decided to freeze. He put the controller down, looked at me and said, "We both know I would have beat it. If any one asks, that's the way it went down." lol

One game defined this topic for me:
Shenmue
Shenmue
final fight cd wrote: moral of story: when in a shady part of town, don't ask random thugs where the sega is at.

That happened to me when I was playing Blue Dragon. It showed the cutscene before Nene's final form and then as the cutscene finished it froze on trying to switch to the battle engine. So I had to plow through about four boss battles all over again. Of course, that meant I got to listen to Ian Gillan singing to Japanese rock four times again.Ack wrote:So I'm running through the third level in Mark of Kri, stealth killing and picking off tribal guards with my bow, when I get to a point where I'm gonna have to run down and drop three guys. That's why I always save to as many files as possible...vejita wrote:Yeah, I once played Star Ocean 2 and was outside the area to the last part of the game when someone else saved over my file...

I hate any time I go long periods without saving and something goes wrong. Though the Shin Megami Tensei series is my absolute favorite series of role playing games, there is an infuriating problem I have had with every single one of them. I run around for an hour or more feeling confident in my ability as I rip through demons collecting experience points... then suddenly I get hit with some "mudoon" spell that kills my main character instantly and sends me back to the load previously saved game screen. I hate it so much. I die a little inside everytime hours of my life are wasted like that.
