My birthday haul.

Post by Nintendude94 »

I've been meaning to join Raquetboy for a while now. I'm part of Nsider2 forums already
and posted this the other day. Thought I'd share.

Pease read first:

It's a long story but a good one ;). Yesterday was my birthday, when it came time to open presant I was excited (I always am, Part of my inner 5 year old). Fist I ws flooded with homemade cards from all of my little siblings. My slightly younger sister handed me her presant to me (Knew what it was, I picked it out :P). It was Rayman on the PS1. My Mom handed me a small, obvious GB shaped package. I opend it, there was a copy of loz:OoS (Could be ages, Can't remember). There was one more presant and it was a bigger one. Dad was grinning ear to ear, anxiously waiting for me to open it. After I opened it I see a sheet of paper that says that I'll be getting a Refurbished Atari 2600 in the mail (It didn't come in time). Underneath the paper was a bunch of individually wraped 2600 games (23 to be exact). I was very happy with this.

After this I went to my church's Youth Group like I do ever Wednesday night. I was given some cards, Money and a joke gift. I knowticed my Uncle didn't give me anything, this is very strange because he's ver, very generous and always gives me money or something. I brushed it off my shoulder and forgot about it. After Church, dad told me we needed to go to go pick up a printer from my uncle. We walked inside and saw my other Uncle.

Before I move on it's important to know that the uncle that lives in the house we were at is the same I mentioned first and his name is Steve, And the other Uncles name is Cuerpo (Nickname, and yes I know that means corps in spanish....another story). Steve and Cuerpo were sitting on the couch and Steve hands me an envelope. I open it to find a well done card he made on his PC (He's really good with computers). The front looked like a Colicovision cartrage, except it was edited to say my name on the front in the text style of Donkey Kong. He told me to look behind me and pull up the blanket on the floor.

I lifted the blanket to unveil ever nerds dream!! This sight was like viewing the holy grail! I saw A boxed Colicovision, a steering wheel and peddle, 2 super action controllers, a roller controller, 2 wireless Atari controllers MIB and 3 boxes of Colico and Atari games. Also right beside it I see the presant from Cuerpo. It's a Boxed Intelivision!!!! With a ton of games and a voice modulator. I'm freaking out like the nerd I am!!!!
I thanked and gave them both a hug.

But the story doesn't stop there!! I very excited at this point and we get talking (Steve, Cuerpo, Dad and I) about
all these old systems and junk. the 3 of them (All being brother) talked about how they used to play this stuff all the time. Both my uncles had everything new and cool before anyone else. like when he had to pay $1000 for a couple megabytes of memory for his old pc. then my dad mentions something they were addictd to years ago.
Something called "Combat". It was the Tank game combat with 2 joy-sticks for each played. Steve runs up to the
attic.

When he returns he comes back with the "Combat" and a box. He showed it to dad and he was all excited. Steve offered it to Cuerpo because he thinks it was his. But he didn't want it so he gave it to me!!! Then he hands me the box he had with him and said it was some old system he got for $5 at a garage sale years ago. I opend it to find an Arcadia 2001 system with some games! I thanked them again. We talked some more and Steve tells me
next time he's in the attic he'd look for the Colecovision Expansion #1 (Let's you play 2600 games) that he's got up there somewhere!

I took everything home and everything works perfectly........except Combat :(. Me and dad are going to try to fix it later.

Pics of everything except the 2600 that hasn't come in:

From Left to right: The Ebay box has the 2600 games from my parents. Under it is the wireless 2600 controllers.
To the right of that is the intelivision. Then the Colico. in the box eith some green on it has the Arcadia 2001 with games. on top of that is 2 nice cases with 2600 and colicovision games. On top of that it Combat. Next in the taller box is the Colico accesorys. On top of that is a box with only colico games in it. In the last box on the right is a bunch of intellivision games and instructions.

Here's the run down:

Rayman (PS1)
loz:OoS (GBC)
47 2600 games
6 2600 controllers
2 wireless 2600 controllers
Colicovision MIB
18 colico games
Colico wheel
2 Super action controllers
Roller controller
Intelivision MIB
42 Intelivision games
Voice module
Arcadia 2001
8 arcadia games
Combat

I think that's all.

That's all. thanks for reading this if you did :D. I'll post seperate pics of everything later.
I'm very happy to have probably $1000+ of early 80s video games in my house.

looks like a very memorable birthday
that is what I call a HAPPY birthday

I wouldn't care for all those systems cause I won't get a kick out of playing them , the game play is very ancient but sure is nice to own a piece of history.

But others would find this the best thing ever(considering how rare they are)

Exactly. Not something I'll be playing constantly, but I like having things like this. :)

Wow, you're lucky. Everyone in my family knows I love video games, but every year I just end up getting a gift card to a bookstore.

I hate gift cards. It forces you to spend money at a place you may not want. What a waste.
