I need help with the Xbox Xenium ICE chip.

Post by Hisoka_Ryodan »

So i recently aquired an Xbox with this chip, however, It won't read any backup disks that I have put in it. When the xbox is turned on it boots to the Xenium screen and can even load a game thats already been preloaded on the hard drive, however, it wont read the disk in any manor. Any help would be appreciated.

Does it play originals? There's always the possibility that the dvd drive is toast, xbox drives really aren't that great. It's more than worthwhile to put a good sized harddrve in there and rip everything you can, or download and ftp it over.

I agree that the Samsung drives in the Xbox work the best.. I would also recommend as mentioned above to put a bigger HDD in and download/FTP it all over... 8)

There are a boat load of tutorials on xbox-scene.com. http://xbox-scene.com/xbox-tutorials.php

Supposedly your Xenium chip has a built-in ftp server. You'll want to figure out how to enable it and get it plugged into your network. Then you'll want to backup your existing drive and restore the content once you put your new drive in. There's a tutorial that explains how to replace your drive that you'll want to follow.

Once you have your larger drive installed, you can put your games on it and avoid using the DVD drive. I recommend getting the XBMC (xbox media center) dashboard/software installed.

The FTP server should be part of your custom dashboard.

XBMC is the nicest looking dashboard for xbox but I prefer UnleashX for it's usability and customizability (you can edit menu's using simple XML files) it looks like shit but it's fast and gets the job done.

The Toshiba drives suck balls at reading media other than geniune DVDs and games. Samsung is the most compatible. My friend's Toshiba is VERY picky with media, the Samsung that I have in my transparent xbox will read anything, including games burnt onto CD-r.
