There is no 2nd analog nub because the first iterations of the PSP are still going to be supported. Like the DSi, all games on PSP will be compatable with the PSP-go. If a 2ns analog nub was added, new games would need to be developed solely for the use of PSP-go, which would be an even more ridiculous idea for Sony (based on how this is being marketed).
I have a feeling, that there will be some sort of device to allow old disc based PSP games to be downloaded to the PSP-go.
In the end, Sony just needs to release the PSP 2 and move on. Sony seems to think there is life on the PSP, and with the recent games that have been released, I tend to agree.

Here are the games I have, or have owned at some point in time and recommend:nickfil wrote:
Just out of curiousity- what half dozen games did you pick up? Every once and while i get an inkling to pick up a psp game, but i never find one that really grabs me. Might pick up the god of war game though.
FFVII: Crisis Core
God of War: CoO
MGS: PO
MGA 1 and 2
Hot Shots Golf
FF Tactics
Sid Meier's Pirates
Valkryie Profile Lenneth
Admittedly, I like RPG's and Metal gear, so the list might not be appealing to those that dislike either...
Coming Soon:
Gran Tourismo
FF Dissidia
LBP portable
Parasite Eve 3
many more, possibly announced this week!

I just hope this will make the old PSP cheaper.
Furthermore, no physical media sucks.

Actually, I have picked up more than a half dozen over time - I currently have about 6-10 on my shelf now, though.nickfil wrote: Just out of curiousity- what half dozen games did you pick up? I own/have owned:
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Burnout Legends
Space Invaders Extreme
Killzone Liberation
Wipeout Pulse
Patapon
Daxter
Loco Roco
Lumines 2
Twisted Metal: Head-On
I've also held on to lots of excellent retro collections that, IMO, are superior to emulating the games:
Gradius Collection
Sega Genesis Collection
Capcom Classics Remixed
Capcom Classics Reloaded
Capcom Puzzle Collection
EA Replay
Atari Collection
Also, these are worth a play through (I have played these, would recommend, but didn't buy):
FF7: Crisis Core
Resistance Retribution
NBA 09 The Inside (easily my favorite BB game in the last 5 years)
See a post above mine for some more great stuff coming for the PSP. I'm also pumped for the PSP Motorstorm.
I can't get into the DS because I don't care much for most of the partial-stylus control games that otherwise might entice me (e.g. GTA Chinatown, Ninja Gaiden, etc.). I have enjoyed the Mario games, the Nanostray series, Ketsui Death Label, Space Invaders Extreme (nice contrast to the PSP version), Retro Game Challenge, and a few others which escape me for the moment. Metal Slug 7 is on my to-do list.

If you like Gradius Collection then I'd recommend you import Salamander Collection and Parodius Collection. Salamander needs no Japanese knowledge at all, and while Parodius does have some Japanese text, it's mostly the option menus that you can quickly memorize which options are which.

Yup! I've played both of these and agree they are strong collections! The re-done Star Soldier is also a decent Japanese shmup (you play by holding the PSP sideways) that is worth checking out.MrPopo wrote:If you like Gradius Collection then I'd recommend you import Salamander Collection and Parodius Collection. Can't see it happening to be honest, what's stopping people renting the games and just copying them over?enderfall wrote:I have a feeling, that there will be some sort of device to allow old disc based PSP games to be downloaded to the PSP-go.
They do need to release a real successor to the PSP, they are trying to do a 'Nintendo' (Again. Why do they always copy what everyone else does?) with the PSP-Go and expecting people to lap it up like it's the next best thing when it clearly isn't, smaller screen, no umd drive, no memory stick duo slot so you will need to upgrade your memory sticks (to the more expensive memory stick micro format) if you want to expand the memory or transfer game saves from normal PSP (if you are crazy enough to buy your games again just to use them on the PSP-Go), strange control layout that doesn't look comfortable at all (not that the PSP is comfortable, it's not at all). The only thing it's got going for it is the inevitable longer battery life and even that could be different when the final unit is released.enderfall wrote:In the end, Sony just needs to release the PSP 2 and move on. I didn't like the PSP2k because it just feels cheap and flimsy and I have no need to play my PSP on a TV, that's what my PS2 is for. I just didn't see the need to upgrade at all.

Re: PSP-Go! has been revealed...
After a day of thinking about this, I still can't believe how far sony's head is up their own ass. Even if this does sell moderately well (after the initial 2 week idiot spike,) all it will do is cause stores to eliminate the limited PSP game space they have, since the "new" PSP wont play media they can sell anyway. This will cause even more of the people who know what they are doing enough to download PSP games to turn towards piracy, and run the PSP furthur into the ground. And those that arent clever enough to get CFW will just get pissed off and buy a DS. I think this has the potential to have Saturn-ish backlash against the company.
Seriously what are they thinking... to get games you have to download them using the internet on a device that cant get on the internet anywhere, and where you can, it moves pretty unusably slow (or use a PC, which doesnt help if you are on the "go!".
Only think I think will be interesting is what it can do when connected to a blue tooth phone. but still. this thing is a bad idea.

Re: PSP-Go! has been revealed...
Good points. Guess I'm just a Sony apologist, hoping that this is better than it really is. Seems they have screwed themselves here. I will NOT be buying the PSP go (unless there are features that haven't been announced yet, but unlikely). I have a hard time justifying downloadable games since they have no value once you are done playing with them. PLus it seems the screen is actually smaller! Whoever wanted said to themselves, "you know what, my PSP would be better with a slightly smaller screen"!?!?Niode wrote:How?
