saturn mystery.

Post by reagan »

I'm not sure if my Saturn's cart slot is broken or if my recently acquired Action Replay is. I got the Saturn used and haven't ever used the slot but recently I was feeling adventurous and bought both an Action Replay 4M Plus and a Japanese Saturn game (Marvel Super Heroes since it's cheaper than the US release and also has an option to utilise the 1M RAM). When the system boots and gets to the Action Replay's title screen it holds for a second or so and then breaks up - some random white dots sweep across the screen (looks sort of like when you try to play Forgotten Worlds on a Genny with a six-button controller without holding down mode on the load screen) - then nothing. Just a sad blank black screen. So anyone have a prognosis - cart slot or Action Replay? By the way, I cleaned both extensively.

Have you got the game to work before? Try testing it in the SSF emulator. If it works, then it's a hardware problem. Try playing a backup of the game, to see if the game will work at all on your saturn. Also, try running it without the RAM cart option.

The game itself works fine as I expected as I purchased it from a reputable seller. I installed SSF just to be sure and it ran. I can't run the game on my Saturn as the system is not modified to played out-of-region software. But in summation the game is not the issue. I'm unsure how creating a back-up of my disc and executing a swap-trick will tell me if my cart slot or Action Replay isn't working properly. Thank you for the suggestions though.

Is there something I can do to test the slot or cartridge?

The only thing I can suggest is to try the cartridge in a different Saturn system. Perhaps you know someone else who has one?

Maybe I did in 1999, but not 2009. Unless someone in the Dallas area wants to stop by!
