Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Targeting system? I've never played Gears of War, but...seriously? That just doesn't sound like it would work with a grenade. Do they at least allow you to cook it?

In GoW there's a dotted line that appears when you go to throw a grenade. You press the button twice, once to start swinging the thing, so you can aim the arch of your throw, and again to release. I think it's actually pretty handy so that you don't waste the things.

it's hard to explain with words how the system works, easy to understand if just get a video of someone doing it from Youtube.

Dude, I just explained the thing a few seconds ago. It's not all that hard to explain.

We both most have submit at the almost the same time, because your post was not there when i was typing up my reply. There is no need for the aggression

It's no big deal, I was just a little exasperated is all. No aggression involved. :)

The obvious tutorials in games should be killed off. What I mean by this is when the game forces you to sit through an hour of climb the create/shoot the target/walk to the red line/etc while someone very slowly tells you what to do. And you can't do it before they finish or you will fail and have to restart. I can't name any games off the top of my head that do it, at the moment, but it infuriates me enough that I know I've encountered it a lot.

It's nigh time that video games got rid of the jump button.

Nights for the Wii was a big abuser of the unskippable tutorial, and many people's opinion of it fell due to it.

#1)Button Mashing: Its so stupid and early 90's . I do not know if it is used outside of wrestling games, but what kind of developer in 2009 would make you smash the buttons on your controller just to get out of a grapple. It only hurts your hands and breaks your controller. I have seen it used in other games like Rayman 2 where you had to press a button repeatedly to increase your running speed bad in bonus rounds.

#2)Vast Exploring: I do not know how much you like to explore, it makes no sense in a game to explore a vast ground(and today they are pretty huge games, think Warcraft) to find a tiny thing that you need to complete your mission/level. Like I would just stop playing if they told me in San Andreas that a package was hidden in one of the islands , go find it. Seriously , in those four huge islands a small package? Also included its stupid to move from one area to another in slow transportation. Its pointless to walk for 10 min just to get to another area. Imagine again in San Andreas you had to walk from an island to another, how pointless is that? Thank god motorcycles and air vehicles exist.

#3) The Unknown quest: This is when you do not know what you have to do or how to complete a level. You are just lost and you do not know where the exist is or what you have to do next. Even after trying everything you think is possible. Thanx for the internet , otherwise we would be forced to buy game guides for that one part of the game that confuses you.

#4) Random Fights: I never played an RPG, just checked it out. But one of the things that keeps me off are random encounters . You can't be just walking along and you have to fight some enemy. It would be nice if it happen once in a while as a surprise element, but if it is going to happen 3 to 4 times on each trip you take with same enemies then it sucks I guess. Though I understand RPG fans are attracted to this kind of thing.

BTW, I love the lives count. It used to be a lot of fun and a fair way to complete the game. Kind of you make your own luck. Regenerating health is a really good idea in today's FPS. In Doom you had like 3 enemies, todays its a war with a million bullets, you can't just kill the enemies in the room and move along. So hiding is better. I also think a percentage life meter that has a long durability with your usual health package would work.
