Turning My PS3 into the ultimate gaming machine!

Ok so i've been looking into this and my inner geek is getting restless so heres the plan:

I have a 60 gig model PS3 with a 160gig HD upgrade
So i have access to the PS1, PS2, PS3 libraries (great start!)

since i have more than enough harddrive space for my game installs, DLC, music, and movies, i figured why not install LINUX!

ill partition my harddrive and dedicate i'd say 10 gigs soley to linux, for emulation purposes.

having SNES, GENESIS, NES, MAME on my PS3 would make it the
ULTIMATE GAMING MACHINE!!!

i've read that PS3 Ubuntu and MAME arn't the best together, but ubuntu is the only distro of linux that i've ever had experience with.

Ok so here's the question, i Know that most popular versions of linux have distro's ported for PS3, BUT wich ones run mame the best on ps3???

Might want to try and visit these sites for some pointers...I haven't installed Linux on my 60gb, simply because I haven't got around to buying a larger HD.... Good luck!

great plan that is what I like about PS3.. It is a powerful system capable of other applications beyond gaming...

The one thing I caution is to factor in the size of CHDs for MAME. My MAME drive on my computer already has about 120 GB on it through the fullsets from UG. And most of that comes from the CHDs.

If I am not mistaken .103 without the CHDs is 13 gigs.

Im not too worried about the space of the roms im going to be using for mame , its only a handful of CPS2 and Neo Geo games i really want couldnt be more than 3 gigs, and same with the rest i doubt ill use all 10gb of that partition for roms. and i wont be using it for PC application since i already have a desktop

from what i seen so far, people say yellowdog for ps3 runs mame with CPS2 games pretty well

getting a distro that lets me play MvC correctly is one of my biggest concerns, same goes with some neo geo roms, Mark of The Wolves, Pulstar, Neo Drift
