Forum Software Upgraded

Post by racketboy »

I just upgraded to the latest release of phpbb which was a bit overdue
Hopefully, it will resolve some of the issues we were having -- some of which I think were due to some lousy forums modifications.
So everything should be fresh on here and I'll still give a call to my hosting company if the server issues continue.

I will also be looking for some better anti-spam/anti-bot mods.

You mean anti-bot mod, without the 's'. As in one. Singular. The one I sent you. Many times.

Good. Just keep in mind it only prevents bots from registering or anonymous posting (if you had it). You need to go through and wipe clean all the accounts with 0 posts, or else existing registered bots will still post.

I do that anyway on a regular basis. If I didn't we would have about 700-900 registered members right now

Another timeout error. Another cookie lost. Thankfully FireFox auto fills out my user and pass. I'd hate having to type that shit out twice daily, like this has been.

Just now? I haven't noticed anything...

edit: ok -- just had it happen once, but it wasn't as bad as the 10 min or so lapses.

Dunno if this makes a difference, but did you choose a Windows server or a Linux server? I chose Linux myself. I just always hear Linux associated with servers, and all...

But seriously, call them up and bitch until they move you onto a more stable server.
