Removing Blockbuster Sticker

Post by Pullmyfinger »

I bought JSRF from Gamestop, and it came with some crappy blockbuster sticker, two actually, a small label on the side of the disc and one that covers it entirely, making the weight of the disc uneven, has anyone removed one before?

BE VERY CAREFUL!!

Removing those fucking full disc stickers can often rip the data layer right off the disc, thus destroying it. This only happens on the discs that are poorly printed though. If the disc has the textured label side feel (under the sticker, in your case), you can be confident that you can peel the rest away safely, and use goo-gone heavily to remove the stickiness.

But if the game's label surface feels very slick, just dont risk it.

Wow, that's almost as cheap as JGR on DC still is. Did that series just sell poorly, or the exact opposite?

Goo-Gone works so much better, trust me. It's worth the $3 at walmart. The longer you let it soak in, the better. It even removes permanent sharpie marker from the disc.

my mom bought some of that stuff once, i'll have to look into that... WD-40 works too i had to use it once to get the glue off a demo disc i wanted to play (the way they packaged the demos in official playstation magazine sucks just plastic film glued to a piece of paper which makes it almost impossible to avoid getting adhesive on the disc)

Use a blow dryer to heat it up (but not too much) to loosen the goop too.

Goo-gone is really amazing, I have to use it at work sometimes. I've had other solutions begin to corrode the surface of what I'm cleaning if I used it too long, but goo-gone hasn't given me any problems and works really well on all kinds of glue/goo/sticker etc, even that nasty silver security sticker residue rental places use.
Let my legs shake me to sleep, and don't wake me when I sweat on my sheets.
