Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Avoid this E-bay Seller! Bad Saturn games!

Post by ImportBoy »

Just a word of warning if anyone considers buying from this e-bay seller: foerdeals

I recently won this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1

Which advertised 13 Saturn games in "excellent condition with no scatches". Got them in today and the condition is exactly the opposite of what was advertised. Scatches, dirt, and all other crap on the CDs. It even looks like someone tried to use a CD-cleaner on some of them but never finished the job. Six out of the 13 have read errors - I was able to rip the rest sucessfully.

Going to try to clean some of the bad ones...

Be warned - don't buy from this *itch! She responds to my letter with "if they dont work send back". I'll see how she responds to my request for a partial refund for the six bad ones...

i once had issues with a poster i bought off ebay, not in the condition as pictured (maybe their toddler trampled it before it went into the mailing tube). anyway, if she is offering to refund your money (and pay shipping). you should go for it. some sellers are nice enough to give refunds and let you keep the goods (as in the case of the poster i bought, though the seller said "please don't ever bid on my auctions again, thanks!")

I hate it when things like that happen.

I once got a saturn and it came with a lot of games. They were all damaged as well (though unlike your situation he forwarned me of the condition of the games)... still I wanted to bring these games up because they all played just FINE. The problem with them all...

small little nicks done into the sides of them destroying the verification ring. Couldn't boot them without a mod chip. WEIRD way to have a pile of a dozen games all get damaged the same.
Makes me wonder if some one was just trying to test some theories of the copy protection utilized by the Saturn.

I was only able to get 1 of the 6 fixed with some cleaning and CD fix stuff. A few the remaining five that don't work I can see right through both sides of the CDs in a few spots - all layers stripped.

I'll see what she say about refunding $18 or so for the five that don't work. Not sure if she will pay the shipping costs. What ticks me off is I asked her in my previous letter if she had actually checked the condition before listing. I could understand mabey she is listing for someone else who told her they were in great condition - but she didn't even bother to answer the question.

Well from now on I'm going to be sure to ask sellers without a high feedback rating to double check these games actually read correctly (using cd-check or something) before I bid. We'll see how my King of Fighters 95' and Fatal Fury 3 are today if the come!

That is really weird...I'd make the same guess to. Or mabey it was the case they were being stored in?

I wouldn't need the seller to tell me not to buy from them again if something like that happened :)

eBay's biggest flaw

Post by alexkidd »

eBay's biggest flaw is the feedback system. If you "Neg" the guy you know you're going to get a BS one right back. They need to have a 1-10 rating system so you can give a guy like that 5-7 where he's not going to be enraged and give you a 5 right back because he certainly doesn't deserve a 10 which is all you can do now (now it's basicaly a 10 or 0). Some of my friends and I have started leaving positive feedback but then ripping the person with our comment no avoid the retaliation negative.
Because the feedback system is so messed up you need to view 97% as an F, 97.5 as a D, 98 as a C, 98.5 as a B and anything 99 and above an A for any seller/buy with over 100 transactions.

But if you fight with ebay about it, they'll usually take the neg off of your account. I hate when people do that shit, regardless. So immature.
