Well I am soon to be the happy owner of a supernova, and I have a few questions for everyone...snk guys can jump in on this one also.
1: Does anyone know JUST how far forward in the arcade boards the novas can read?
2: I figured that an MVS board would hook up, smash in a cart...and go..yes or no?
3: Is there a good source for GOOD prices on boards besides ebay?
4: Has anyone ordered from Super NOVA before?
Also any other views on this product would be great.

Get a custom one made, the Mass Super novas are ok. Join the Neo geo forums and search around for someone selling one, or get a member by the name of Xian Xi to make you one.

I'm not sure what the story is, but there's a guy who either is with Mas Systems or used to be. Anyways, he's selling SuperNova's on Ebay, and it looks like a pretty nice setup for the price. Here's one of the auctions:

Also he sells a really slick hard drive-less Killer Instinct setup now and then. I don't know the history of Mas Systems, anyone know why he's not selling them as part of Mas?

I can probably answer this question. You're asking how far the technology can advance before it's not compatible? There should be no restrictions so long at the game can be displayed on a standard resolution monitor. That being the case, there may be some problems with the very latest kits, since those are using HD widescreen monitors.lost_within wrote: 1: Does anyone know JUST how far forward in the arcade boards the novas can read?
Supergun/Supernova systems are really not much more than video converters otherwise.

Re: SuperNova...whats your review
After all in all, I am just going to get messing with the ol neogeo I guess. I looked into ALOT of stuff, and as much as I still really want to play a select few arcade only games, the neogeo has more than most. Im not sure it was really worth spending the extra 300$ for the supergun..then boards, or the atomis, or even a mvs board with carts. After ALL that...I could just buy a mvs convertor and play them on the aes. I still LOVE the idea of it...and if I run across one cheap, I will jump on it. Do any of you guys own one?

Re: SuperNova...whats your review
I actually bought and sold one from that Ebay seller. All I can say is it was very good. Its a bit spendy but actually has everything you need to play popular games. I sold it after getting a few games running because I realized it wasn't arcade games I wanted to play, it was an arcade cabinet! Buying a house next month and its time to buy a couple Candy Cab's and start collecting games to install into them.

you have no idea how much the "Neo" collecting can consume your funds very quickly! i suggest very strongly to try out all the games on emulator first and then decide if its really worth spending the money. i am personally done with my neo collection, I have 40 Neo games and they all are the cream of the crop games and I will actually play and enjoy every one of them. As its always been said "don't buy whats popular or rare, buy the game your actually going to play and enjoy"

Re: SuperNova...whats your review
This is very true, trust me...I wont throw money at it for no reason. I actually have a nice mame collection on this computer...BUT, im not going to lug this pc around to a friends house just to play for a couple hours. Only reason I want the mvs convertor is so I dont have to spend 500-1000$ for metalslugs. Trust me...spending 200$ on KoF isnt bad to me, I spent a pretty penny for the radiant silvergun/RS guide combo I had gotten. But 500$ PER game...is a bit overkill. 300$...sure, not every day...maybe once every 2 months...but sure lol.kingdomheights777 wrote:lost_within wrote:I would love to have a cab...BUT, need a house first.
