I've been meaning to ask, are you just being really thick, or are you being sarcastic? There is no way that paint job can be considered good.

Even though I know much about painting or paint jobs, I will try my damnedest to explain why your paint job is not a good one.
First I am not trying to put you down or insult you, I am simply pointing out why your paint job is not a good one.

Your paint is (very obviously) not even. One can find spots where you have too much paint.
Did you paint over the sticker? If you didn't, put the sticker back.
Judging by the lumpiness of your Dreamcast, I'm guessing that you didn't clean your Dreamcast prior to painting, either.

Now, let's look at a good paint job.


Now, I know that only the disc lid and ports were painted, but I didn't feel like looking very far for a good paint job.

The paint is smooth and even and not lumpy at all and the sticker was taken off before painting. This is just a guess (picture is a little too low-res for me to tell) but it looks like the Dreamcast had the glue gunk from the sticker cleaned off as well.

Good lord, he did paint the LED, didn't he? Look... Bhart. Painting a Dreamcast is a total peice of cake. I don't know what you did to screw it up that bad, but that may be the ugliest Dreamcast I have ever seen. I'm not even kidding, look at this thread: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2820

All it took was for me to unscrew the top half, remove the lid, lightly sand it, cover the logo with masking tape I cut with an exacto knife, and spray with Krylon fusion in multiple, light coats. It was a Sega Sports system, so as soon as the paint dried I had a system virtually identical to the official Japanese black systems that are so hard to find. the whole thing took about an hour, and only a small ammount of cash for the paint.

Wow Apprentice, I'd forgotten all about that thread, the last time I saw it I was still just a lurker on the boards.

Anyhow, has the paint aged well (no cracking or spotting), and how'd you get the color to match so well to the plastic?

The color was a wild guess, to tell the truth; it's just the slightest shade lighter than the rest of the system. All I knew is that Krylon Fusion was excellent for console paint. It's aged extremely well too. It still looks like the day I painted it, even on the controller, where my sweaty hands have been all over it.

I completely missed that one, but that controller is dead sexy. If I had a special edition controller I'd send it to you, but I don't. I'll check the flea market maybe later this week, if I find one that's cheep I'll send it out.
