MAME for Dreamcast
MAME for Dreamcast
I temporarily have a DC in my cabinet,I'm saving for a good PC.I've been looking at different MAME emulators for DC and it doesn't look like their is many to choose from. Most of the emulators stopped in 2001,I think Mame4all is the best one to use.The problem is that most of these emulators mostly play really old stuff,I want mostly cps 1/2 stuff.Whats the best one to use?
Systems: Sega Dreamcast(x2), Sega Genesis(x2), Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Genmobile (portable Genesis), FC Twin, PSX, PS2(x2), GBA, SP, Xbox 360, N64, Showcase Arcade

mame4all is your best bet it does play cps1 games like un squadron, final fight as far as i know.
heres a compatibility list.

it wont play any cps2 games, not enough ram in the xbox for those.

If you can pick up an Xbox and softmod it, you'll have a much better experience. If not, then I'm not sure how much success you'll have. MAME support, especially on such a "rare" and less supported, not to mention outdated CPU like the SH4 isn't likely to be great.

I agree with the xbox approach. It's great that you can add/remove stuff easily from the hard drive. Just the default 8GB drive can hold a lot of emulators/roms. Even better if you're able to add a large cheap drive and you can load all of your DVDs onto the drive. Very convenient.
