I am now the proud owner of a $30 GameCube, a $10 memory card, and $2.99 Viewtiful Joe and Viewtiful Joe 2. Very cool introduction to the system.

It sucks that the gamecube accessories (controller and meomory card) are still so expensive because of the Wii...It always seemed silly to me that you had to buy gamecube memory cards to save gamecube games...Sony had it right with the way the ps3 did it, I think. Though I don't know if it's technical limitations (somehow I doubt this), or it drives up hardware sales for the old hardware.

Thanks for the info, mod_man. I just picked one up today. It was a platinum edition, the only new one left in the store.

I also took a quick look at the GC stuff to see what they're selling for. It appears that they have recently dropped the price on the GBA player from $14.99 to $9.99. The GB Micro is now $30. I believe it was $39.99 not to long ago.

Do you think any GameStops would have a new Xbox in stock?

All you have to do is ask an employee to search the system .

Eventually Cube drives will start failing, but then you'll be able to just crack it open and toss a fresh drive into your old Black, Indigo, Platinum, or Component Enabled cubes. Plus you'll also have fresh AV cables, AC adaptors, and controllers for later as well.
