Brand New Gamecubes now $30 at GameStop!

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

How does the store benefit from Selling them as USED instead of NEW?
Even if your license are getting expired(You need license to sell stuff not a franchise?)

Any how, whoever thinks he paid too much at launch you must be ill. Gamecube jump from N64 was so damn huge it was so worth it(on the opposite of the jump from last generation to this generation) not to mention its a 7 years wait. Thats like the system was out when you were 14 but you waited until you are full capable adult at 21 to buy it!! Plus its a recession that no one expected...

I got a Wii partly because it ran gamecube games, a system that I missed on with great games like RE and eternal darkness, but I believe I paid too much specially in shipping price and being forced to buy a bundled Brawl. Boy am I going to make the price difference with Softmii.

It's pretty sweet that we get the inside news from mod_man :D
Actually the majority of Gamecubes GameStop still has in stock are the Indigo (Purple) ones, and all the Indigo Gamecubes ever manufactured include the Digital Out (Component) Port. Also since it's now 'Used' you can have them open up the box and check for you as well.

We benefit from not being sued by Nintendo, as GameStop is a corporation, not a franchise. Renewing our Gamecube license with Nintendo would cost a huge amount of money, and would be worthless as GS plans on phasing out all remaining New or Used Gamecube inventory by the end of the year.

Why would Nintendo make it difficult(expensive) to sell its dead console(not games built for any more-substituted by Wii)...is another thing I do not understand.

But even so, flipping the tag from new to used is it illegal? What if I wanted to sell my used gamecube for $200. Hey it my choice.

Nintendo doesn't care if you sell them used, but you need a license to sell them new. It's just corporate policy. It's easier for Nintendo just to have a blanket fee for X amout of years to be a licensed seller of new Gamecube stuff then it is to do special casing at the end of life. Plus, Nintendo has still sold the Gamecube to Gamestop at the new price, and Gamestop is taking the hit by selling it used.

nothing illegal about what they are doing. Gamestop payed the distributor and thus Nintendo a long time ago. Still can't stand most of their policies, but this is really normal business.

Anyone have the link for the New Gamecube and Wavebirds?

I just bought a used one yesterday to add to the bedroom and was looking around for a new Wavebird also ...

Thanks for the info, mod_man. I just picked one up today. It was a platinum edition, the only new one left in the store.

I also took a quick look at the GC stuff to see what they're selling for. It appears that they have recently dropped the price on the GBA player from $14.99 to $9.99. The GB Micro is now $30. I believe it was $39.99 not to long ago.

Do you think any GameStops would have a new Xbox in stock?

I just picked up a BNIB Platinum gamecube for 30 bucks. It's well worth it.

I got to jump on that Gameboy Player price. $10 is a steal!
