NES and SNES hacks I wanna see

Post by REPO Man »

I'm really into hacked NES games that totally defy the overall game itself, such as Extra Mario Bros for the NES or, to name a Super NES hack, Brutal Mario. So... I wanna muse about ideas that I have.

HALO: THE FIRST WAR

Now, this idea is for an entire series of hacks that tell a story set in the Halo universe.

Also, each entry is made from a different game. And some games I'd nominate are Contra, Castlevania, Metroid and even Metal Gear.

THE DARK CRYSTAL

An idea for a Legend of Zelda hack, where you play as the Gelfling known as Jen as he travels to find the pieces of the Dark Crystal.

It would employ new graphics, new music, and various other things.

SUPER MARIO LAND: THE SIX GOLD COINS DELUXE

A Super Mario World hack done to be a remake of SML2, done with SMW.

It would feature an altered Overworld, so one could traverse each world in any order, but would have to beat all of them to get to the final level.

REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA

A hack of the Super NES game Shadowrun.

Based on the movie, the movie takes a new path, where the disgraced Repo Man known as Nathan Wallace is killed by Rotti Largo, who then takes his daughter Shilo as his own. He is then saved by The Graverobber, and must now traverse the dystopian futuristic LA landscape, fighting all sorts of henchgirls and Repo Trainees, to name a few.

It would be a total overhaul, only employing the game's engine and maybe some graphics, but replacing a lot of other things.

THE DARK SEED (improvement)

A proposed project to take the unlicensed NES remake of the H.R. Giger-inspired game The Dark Seed and improve the overall experience with text translations, cleaned-up graphics, and ASM alterations to correct programming errors that make the game unplayable.

I also suggest giving the same treatment to BioHazard, the NES remake of Resident Evil.

CLOCK TOWER hack ideas

* Suspiria - featuring a graphics hack, text hack and other major changes, the player plays Suzy Bannion as she traverses the Tam Dance Academy to find out the secrets that connect the weird occurrences at the school and the school's mysterious past and it's connection to the old witch Helena Markos.

* Alone in the Dark 4 - a direct sequel to AitD3 (and ignoring AitD:NN). Details TBD.

Liking the Clock Tower hack, I hope they make a sequel although they most likely won't. :(

I do like the idea of Halo meets Metroid. That sounds awesome.

On that note, how about Vectorman meets Metroid? Taking into account Vectorman's morphing ability, I think he could fit right in.

Also, I think a Metal Gear meets Zelda style hack could be great. I know there's Metal Gear for the NES which some might say shares similarities to Zelda as is, but that game is deeply flawed and could do with a good polishing, in my opinion.

I agree with the Mario Land idea, that would be awesome. Or a sequel that is not a Wario title - nothing against Wario but I would like another Mario Land.

I want to see a hacked version of Kirby: Super Star with the extra content found in the DS remake. The only thing that you'd really need is some new sprites for the new bosses and some lines of code (the new content was kinda lame).

Is it possible to hack "Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego" for the NES/Super NES? Maybe alter it to have new criminals and whatever. And maybe do a "Mario is Missing"-type sequel with the game (replace the VILE henchmen with Mario villains and replace Carmen Sandiego with Bowser). And we'd call it "Mario is Missing 2: Twisted Time Warp".

And maybe do a "Carmen Sandiego"-themed hack of "Mario is Missing", maybe something like "Carmen Sandiego: Heists of the Century".

And:

THE VIDEO DEAD

A hack of Zombies Ate my Neighbors, based on the obscure zombie film. Play as either one of the Blair kids, Zoe or Jeff, as you track down and kill the Video Dead. But, unlike the movie (where it was just zombies that could only be killed by chopping them up and waiting), here the evil TV set spits out various monsters.

Aside from new characters and levels, there'd be new monsters, more types of zombies, and a new villain... The Woman, Jennifer Miro's character who now is the Queen of the Video Dead.
