I own about eighteen consoles (including portables), spend far more money on older games than newer games, and have a deep-seated appreciation for shoot 'em ups and arcade games; So it's worth mentioning that I've played (and probably still own) sixteen out of twenty of the top selling games.

I don't think mario kart or brain age is shovel ware, but they sell cause games like Devil May Cry and Metal Gear simply too complex for the common consumer(and maybe for a lot of the younger kids who place video games).

Shovelware is Hannah Montana and Sponge Bob(on wii) which I can swear its a worse in every way than most Dreamcast games, Even N64 games including graphics. But these things sell because of the franchise.

What I don't get is how games like Balls of Fury, how does this kind of thing sell?

For Sony to lose like Sega it actually has to slip its way all the way to the PS4 death, Because if PS3 is a Saturn then PS4 is a Dreamcast

32x was an addon it wasn't a system by its own

And Sony hasn't left a bad taste in anyone's mouth with the dropping of backwards compatibility?

I'm not saying the Sega's slide and Sony's slide are exactly the same for the same reasons, but it is clear that unbelievably stupid decisions on where the market it going and how invulnerable you think you are in the current market based on recent past performance is certainly familiar territory.

People wanted Sony to drop the price. So, Sony dropped the price by eliminating BC. Now people want BC. I'd say this is simply a case of "Be careful what you wish for." Lower price = lower functionality.

I still don't understand what the big deal is about PS2 BC on the PS3, especially at a place like this. I mean, we're hardcore gamers. We don't just have one system hooked into the TV like all the casual-gaming guttersnipes out there.

Get it now if it is important to you. Everyone who has complained about BC has had plenty, and I mean PLENTY, of opportunity.

Perfect comment. People wanted to spend less money on something that did EVERYTHING...sony drops the price greatly to try to make people happy....and yet again no one is happy. I admit..its rare I play my ps3, I have a 60gig...again, old school ps2 2d fighting, ps3 fps...thats all I do. But the only time I actually play it, is when me and my gf goto my friends house and we all sit around and play resident evil 5. Id much rather play 360,wii, nintendo...something else period. But at the same time if people are wanting BC....well, go buy one, atleast now it wont cost you 600$. You can get it used for the price you wanted...but now people complain due to "But oh I can get a new system cheaper...BUT I WANT MY BC!" ....people asked for something, sony did it....this just sounds like all those lazy people I know that want everything for nothing and wont even work for what they do want.

I dont know, everything for nothing just makes me think...lazy,spoiled, the kinda kids that are NOT your kids but you still have to hold back from smacking the hell out of them when they are around you.

To each there own, I just get sick of seeing,reading, and hearing about everyone moan on about how the ps3 does not have BC. There are MORE than enough 20s,60s, and 80s sitting on ebay, amazon, craigslist,chuckwagon...so on so on so on. If bc means so much to people...buy one of those. Not everyone is asking 1000$ for them. I have one in the box, with ps3 and ps2 games that I would sell for about 550$ SHIPPED. Thats with a console, 2 controllers, hdmi cable, ps2 games, only the newest ps3 games. I have seen 60s go for as little as 300$, so all in all...why complain about the bc...if someone wants it, buy it.

it should be 299 in stores now with BC. the fact that anyone would be selling a used console for 550 is exactly the problem. the wii is 249 new with BC and gets played by everyone from age 4 to 74 at my house. the ps3 does not deliver half as much playability for twice the price.
