Problem with burning bin/cue dreamcast games

Post by dukenukem88 »

Whenever i try to burn a bin/cue DC game i get this error "Unrecognized file format for recording, please insert recognized image file for recording" This has happened with all 5 bin/cue games that i have tried today, but all of the cdi games i have tried work perfect. These cue files were not made by me, i got them from a torrent from underground gamer. So what is the problem, i extract the bin and cue file than i open up alcohol 120, select the cue for that game and it does not recognize it. I wouldnt think there is problems with the cue files because it couldnt just happen to be that i got 5 bad cues from 5 different games right in a row, especially since this is a trusted and good DC torrent. (the entire U.S. collection) Also, i never had any trouble with cue files when i burned all of the saturn games, it only happens with DC games.

Have you tried using BIN2Boot on them and then burning them?

I've never used it myself, but most likely CDI. Remember that bin/cue DC releases are never selfbooted. But that's not the issue you're having. Racket is probably suggesting you try bin2boot because you mentioned how you had luck with cdi releases, and that would get you around your weird bin issue.

Also, you have installed ForceASPI, right? It's vital that you install an ASPI layer on an XP machine.

ok, i installed the newest version of ForceASPI and the setup and everything went successful but it did not help any with the bin/cue games. Also, when i try to drop the bin file in bin2boot it just gives me an error that says it cant create the file.

yeh I did install an ASPI layer, I think it was ForceASPI

a few of the bin/cues did actually burn, but I thought they were coasters, maybe I just hadnt used a boot disk :s

most of them wouldnt burn at all though unfortunately, Ill try that boot 2 bin thing

Could you mount them in Daemon/Alcohol 120% and then rip from the mount to CDI? (or ccd if that would work too)
