USB Gamepad Recommendations?
USB Gamepad Recommendations?
I'm looking for a gamepad for playing PS1, SNES, and N64 emulators on my computer. I was thinking about buying a SNES controller to usb game pad, but then I found other gamepads with more buttons, and for a cheaper price. But the problem with the cheaper gamepads is that they are known to break really easily. So, what do you guys think I should get?

use your PS3 controller

For the PS1 its a given, the button layout is perfect for SNES games as well.
As far as N64 games go, I dont think you can find anything that will closely mimic that thing, you may just have to get a USB adapter and use a N64 controller: http://www.jandaman.com/adaptoid.shtml
That particular site doesnt carry them anymore so you might have to locate one on eBay or something.

I use an XBox 360 wired controller for the N64 games. It works well.
I also got an USB adapter so that I can use my PS1/PS2 controllers.

I am looking kind of for the same thing
Would any one recommend Saturn controller for Snes and older system systems? I heard its best controller out there. I hear they make them with USB.
Plus, would USB controllers work with Wii emulated games through homebrew?

I use this for damn near everything.

It is definitely the best USB controller I've played with, and it's also the cheapest. Win Freakin' Win, baby.

I have to concur with the Logitech recommendation. They make excellent peripherals. But I'd get the Dual Action, so you have the option of analog controls. I have one, and I prefer it in every way to the dual shock, except for the lack of rumble.

I use a model 2 Saturn pad with this thing: http://www.mayflash.com/pc/pc015/pc015-1.htm
It works perfectly except for SNES games, and for those I use a Wiimote with classic controller.

That is exactly what I do - Saturn pad goes brilliantly for mostly anything non-analog, but particularly so Genesis. I can use the 3-in-1 also with PS1 controllers so that's also good for SNES.
There is no good solution to the N64 however - the controller is so specific.

Like I said before, I use the Xbox 360 controller for N64. I map the right-hand analog stick for the camera buttons. A friend swears by using the Gamecube controller with a USB adapter.

The 360 controller is the best thing I've come across so far as well. This new device may be the sign of something like this for USB. If all else fails one could modify it.
