I didnt know the French were their own raceMrPopo wrote:So I looked at the 1up review, and they included a video of the second round vs. Glass Joe, which is actually difficult. And it looks like they won't be toning down the wacky racism that the original game had. Glass Joe speaks exclusively in French, and still flails around hilariously.

Here's the deal with the Wii, I love it for Virtual Console titles, and Retro revivals on WiiWare such as Gradius Rebirth, MegaMan 9, Tetris Party and Star Soldier R. When it comes to actual retail games, I like Super Smash 3 and Mario Kart. Mainly because both have the option to use the Gamecube controller option and don't force motion controls only. Mario Galaxy is the only motion controls game that I own that I like and actually play on occation.
The mainstream casual draw of motion control games as a whole does not appeal to me, yet the console still has a place for me due to the other style offerings that I enjoy. I loved PunchOut on NES, and have it on Virtual Console. The make or break deal for the Wii PunchOut will be the control options. If there is option to use the Gamecube controller, then I will most definately pick it up. If not, then I may be forced to pass.
Any insight on this? Is a more conventional control option available?

You can use the Wiimote sideways -- exactly the same as the original NES controls.
There are multiple control settings for the new PO, including one with the balance board.

Yeah, this is a back to basics games. Left jab, right jab, left body, right body, and star uppercut. You'd be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't pick this up if it turns out it won't let you run the Gamecube controller, since sideways means no waggle.
