Has anyone ever been robbed of their game collection?
My apartment was broken into on mother's Day by someone I suspect had some intel on my apartment and they stole my roommate's PS3, his games, my PS2 black controller (I have two others) and a pile of PS2 games and some movies. RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DOOR was my Wii, PS2, Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, and all the games for those systems (minus the PS2). I now have less PS2 games than anything else (5), but looking around later I thought, "Well, look on the bright side- I still have my older consoles (and for some reason the Wii, even boxed up nicely just for someone to cart off) so its lucky that most people don't care much about them..." I kinda felt proud of that. It motivates me to have a bigger, better collection- and to change the locks on my doors...

So I heard, I am sorry about the break in - especially since you live down the street from the police office.
I have only had small parts of my collection stolen, never more than a few games. Helping at events with bad security makes things walk away. Last years Momo was a copy of Starfox on the SNES and some crappy NES games, this years it was nothing due to a new scheme I came up with and some dedicated roomstaff.

You are taking this remarkably well. I would want to find the culprit and Kano his heart out.

When I lived in Wichita back in 2005, I was living in a studio apartment. I had a '94 s-10 blazer that I had put 2 12" audiobahn subs, with a 500 watt amp in the back. Both were stolen one night, the assholes busted my window, and broke off the back hatch trying to get to it. They left the cd player itself, but the amp and subs were gone. I was really pissed about it at first, but then I cooled off. went and bought a nice viper alarm system for my blazer after the fact (a tad late I know ) to prevent it from happening again. Later in that same month, my apartment got broken into, came home to find my ps2, xbox, and laptop gone. Those were the only 3 gaming systems I owned at the time, and have been collecting pretty much ever since, lol.

I keep a inventory of my games as well as my studio equipment just in case the house gets broken into. That way I can check and see whats missing immediately. I'm thinking about doing the ADT thing as well...
Sorry to hear that some of your stuff got stolen.

Oh believe me... I do not forgive. If it is someone I am acquainted with, which I suspect, they will not get off easy. Regardless of the police report I've already searched the nearby pawn shops for my laptop (oh yea, that was taken as well) and Gamestops, but there's nothin' of course. I did a neurotic scrub down of my apartment so I've done a lot of cooling off all week...J T wrote:You are taking this remarkably well
...if they had taken my genesis I would've have ripped someone's eyes out. Anyone. I truly think I would've just smashed something, even my own car, with a loose brick that I keep next to the door for "emergencies."

Amen to that! If any console is worth smashing your own car for, it's the Genesis. Don't anyone forget it.vejita wrote:...if they had taken my genesis I would've have ripped someone's eyes out.
