Grandia II backup disc problem

Post by vejita »

I didn't burn the disc myself but when playing through Grandia II on the dreamcast the later FMVs won't play, instead a message pops up for barely a second- "Insert Disc 1," or "Insert Disc 2," while on the first disc. I was probably told before if that would happen but my memory ain't so great- is it a burn problem or because it's not on the PC so I can't config?

plus I'm really loving the game- makes me remember why I started liking jrpgs

its most likly the disk itself that was burned. try to find another copy or if you got it online look for another iso.

Well your first tipoff should be that Grandia 2 is a single disc game on Dreamcast. I assume that's the version you're talking about.

Yeah, but every iso I found that would have put it on a single disc required bigger discs(which I couldn't find) as well as overburning, which I really have no idea how to do. I'm not very well versed in burning programs.

Wait was their a two disk version? My official copy is one disk but i have ran into other people claiming to have a two disk version for the DC.

What I find strange is not that the FMVs simply won't play- it's that it prompts me to insert the current disc or the disc 2 I have for a split second, then it just skips the scene and continues as normal. It doesn't freeze, and earlier fmvs played just fine. When the storyline gets to where (ugh, awful English) Zera explains some history the dreamcast falters on playing the FMVs... I don't know much about burning but i do know there is an issue with space for this game.

Are the videos on the 2nd disc? If so, how in the heck do I switch them out to play the videos?

Listen, you just have a fucked up pirated copy. Go with Tux's single disc rip.

Read the text there and understand what you're getting. Or you can just buy the game. I did the latter.

There is a second disc that comes with the NTSC copy of Grandia II, but it is only a soundtrack disc. I believe the PAL edition was only one disc as well. As best as I can remember, I was never prompted to put in a second disc when I played through the game. MY guess is that whoever compressed the game screwed up somehow.

If you have an older burn of this game and it is two discs you will have problems with some of the cut scenes. To Fix the Problem switch to Disc 2 right before you fight the Heart of Valmar and all the FMVs/Cut Scenes should display properly!
