VCD movies are the same movies on every other type of media, so what makes any one have a favorite VCD movie
Plus I always thought VCD was crap, it was like VHS on a CD I really miss the point of it

The point back in the day was that VCD's didn't become a garbled static mess simply from sitting on a shelf or being played, like VHS/Beta/all other magnetic media.

Also LaserDisc is the true champion of early disc based (analog or digital) video formats. But with performance came their massive size. So slamming all of that onto a disc ten times smaller was a technical miracle in the Pre-DVD era, plus old archaic formats are usually always pretty cool eg.) Vinyl, Laserdisc, Beta, CD's (they're getting there), MiniDisc, UMD (AKA MiniDisc 2.0), Digital Audio Tape, MiniCD, MiniDVD etc...
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

I remember in my high school days, when Napster was still awesome and several other P2P programs like Morpheus and Kazaa were serving up movies, the VCD rips were the ideal things to download for your movie fixes.

Films which are masterfully transfered to MPEG1 (the codec which VCD2.0 utilises) do look good on SDTV. But you had to pay tons to get the MPEG add-on card for the Saturn and similar 32-bit consoles. With the advent of cheap DVD burners however you'd be hard-pressed to find pirate VCDs being sold nowadays.

Why the hell would you want to buy VCD? I wouldn't have them if you paid me, DVD is far cheaper, better in quality and the players are less than £5 in the supermarkets here.

I am sure there is some obscure porn or martial arts flick that is VHS and VCD only.

My friend loves his saturn and wanted the VCD card and I was able to buy one off the trade boards here for a good price and want to buy some movies to go with it for his b-day present. I already have star wars, but don't know which movies that we actually like were released on the format and ebay doesn't have a specific category for them.

If you have a CD burner, you can make VCDs from DVDs or video files. They're just MPEG2 files on a data track.
