Oh, this I understand. I acknowledged that we're not speaking of the same Sega here. The general question is why a developer create a title, then follow it up years later with a title that does little more than carry the name of the franchise and only the most basic foundations of the original title whilst changing or diluting all the parts that were so raved about in the name of making the game palatable for the general masses, when the general masses don't seem to take notice anyway? All it results in is a generally lackluster game with generally lackluster sales. If you're going to make a game, make it all it can be. I don't understand why there has to be any more to the process than that. I understand Sega is basically the horrific, skin suit wearing imbecile you mentioned earlier (i.e. Sammy), but shit, even so, any moron can make the connection between a quality game and quality sales.lordofduct wrote:I love me some Sega.
But Sega is dead my friend. She died a long time ago. What's left is a crazy old man walking around in a skin suit made of Sega going "Sonic Booom Sonic Boooooom!"
Anyway, I really wish that Sammy would just drop Sega's name and let them die. I'm really sick of it; Sega's a company that I identify with so much, and it just pains me to see their name used this way. Honestly, with all the Shenmue III and Dreamcast 2 petitions we keep seeing, I'd rather sign one for Sega's name to be laid to rest. Sega is dead now, and saying that is much easier to me than saying anything about the Sega-Sammy merger.
Still, there's something to be said about the illogical decisions of many development houses as they bring their classic franchises onto modern consoles these days.
