Flat Screen CRTs
Flat Screen CRTs
I searched for this, and couldn't really find an answer. Will light guns work on a flat screen SD CRT tv?
Google tells me that Guncon 2 works with a flat screen CRT, but what about the NES Zapper or Saturn Stunner?

Re: Flat Screen CRTs
Yes, they all work. As long as it is CRT, you are in luck, HD, SD, whatever. Its the newer LCD, DLP, and plasma displays that they dont work correctly with.

Lightguns will work with all SD CRT's, and Guncon 2's will work with some HD CRT's if the particular game supports the Guncon 2's 100hz mode and you have the PS2 av adaptor.

Re: Flat Screen CRTs
guncon 2 over here (uk) won't work on 100hz displays and it can be iffy on 60hz selection.
60hz causes wander, whilst 100hz the crosshair flies across the screen repeatidly.

To run the Guncon 2 in 100hz mode you need to have the ps2 hooked up via component cables, and/or in prog. scan mode.

If it's a DC gun with both a DC system and VGA box, you should be fine.nateup2 wrote:What about flat CRT VGA monitors?(DC House of the Dead 2 hopefully)

Re: Flat Screen CRTs
Be careful if you want to play light gun games, some more modern flat screen CRTs don't work. Some have a scan feature (I forget the technical name) the processes low res images to a cleaner image. This processing takes a few milliseconds but it screws up the timing required for light gun operation. I almost bought one, but I tested it out with my light gun and found it didn't work and so I passed. On the model I was looking this feature couldn't be disabled so it would have been no better to me than a non-CRT television.
Ow! My small intestine!

Re: Flat Screen CRTs
The only ones that do the smoothing trick badly are the cheap generic TV's you usually see at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and Target nowadays. Any set built in 06-07 (maybe 08) that's worth it's salt will work perfectly fine.

I hope mine doesnt fall into that category, but I'm going to try it.
